More about us

  1. Lesley & Don are aged in their late 50's and over the last 5 years have begun travelling overseas. No home exchanges but we have been to Canada and Scotland. Lesley was born in Scotland and Don is an Aussie. We have been together for over 20 years and are true "soul mates". Our children have moved away and living their own lives. Still see them as much as we can. We both still work Lesley in nursing and Don is in a senior position in the liquor industry.
Having owned and worked running a Bed & Breakfast we understand to be tidy and respect other people's property.
Our likes are shopping [Lesley knows all the shops here], travel and meeting other people exchanging ideas and learning from each other.
If you are planning to come to Australia we would welcome an email but we would strongly suggest you include New Zealand. We have been there updeen times [so close for us, 3 hours] and love both islands and its people.

Where is it?

We are located in the Dandenong Ranges a good hour from Melbourne city central.[using the Monash freeway]. The area is famous for the home of the Puffing Billy vintage steam train that winds its way through the hills here. I believe it to be Victoria, s 2nd main tourist attraction. Starting in Belgrave the puffing billy continues all the way up to Gembrook with the journey taking several relaxing hours. Passengers are welcomed to get of at any of the stations along the way and catch the next train usually about an hour behind. The scenery alone is well worth the trip.
The area is also a big horse area for bredding and aguistment. The actual area named as Avonsleigh is between the villages of Emerald and Cockatoo. Roads in the area are 90% made but visitors will need there own car to get around.
Very important is The Yarra Valley and all its wineries is only 20 minutres away by car. There are several wineries as part of the Cardinia wine group that are only a couple of minutes away.
We offer where possible to meet you at the airport and you can follow us to Avonsleigh Oaks. One and a half hours away on the other side of Melbourne.
