About our home

We are currently looking for several swaps in the UK/ France during the period mid November 2019 to end January 2020.

Our light and bright beautiful family home was fully renovated in 2008 and is in a great location only a few streets away from one of the worlds best beaches. With 4 large bedrooms, big living areas, a huge cooks kitchen and dining table for ten, as well as a big deck in the garden for barbecues, there is plenty of room to enjoy a comfortable holiday here. If you don't want to swim at the beach, enjoy long walks, a coffee at one of the many cafes and restaurants or enjoy shopping nearby. With the train only a few minutes walk away you also have a great base to explore Fremantle, Perth and other great attractions, take the ferry to Rottnest Island, or take a few days to explore the stunning South West Coastal beaches and wine region.

More about us

  1. We are a happy, loving family who love to learn from and explore other countries. I, Debbie, am an accountant working part time as a consultant (full time mum duties on top!) and my husband David is also an accountant who is a Professor at the University of Western Australia researching in economic history and in not-for-profit sector related issues as well as owning a consulting business. We have a 16 year old son and twin 12 year old daughters. We have successfully had two home exchanges before on our last big trip around Europe (3 months November 2015 to January 2016). We are planning another family trip from Australia to England and Europe at the end of 2019/ early 2020 and home swapping was so successful last time we are giving it another go. We are also open to being contacted by people in other locations but the UK is our primary focus. My husband will be taking sabbatical so we are wanting to base ourselves in London where possible so he can visit the Colleges he will be doing research with, however we are wanting to explore lots of side trips and can be quite flexible depending on the opportunities that arise. We previously lived for a year in the Surrey Hills in the UK when my son was 2 years old (a few years ago now) as I was born in England, and have family in the Isle of Wight. We would love to hear from you with suggestions and offers.

We believe it is important to always be respectful of other peoples property, so your home will be safe in our hands - we will treat it with care and are hoping to swap with like minded families or couples.

Where is it?

With more than a kilometre (0.6 miles) of pure white sand, Cottesloe Beach is one of Perth's most popular spots for swimming, snorkelling and surfing. Generations of West Australians have spent summer days diving into the ocean from the distinctive floating bell just offshore. Watch the sun set over the Indian Ocean while enjoying a glass of wine, a refreshing beer or a relaxed dinner. In March the annual Sculpture by the Sea outdoor exhibition turns the beach into an outdoor art gallery. Plentiful cafes, two great beach pubs, restaurants and places to buy your fish and chips line the beach so you can enjoy it whatever way suits you best.
