Go to sleep with the sound of the ocean...and wake up to it, too.
We're moving back to the Washington area and are looking for a house swap to ease the transition while we look for a more permanent place to live. House swaps from anywhere from 3 months to 1 year would be ideal.
You'll get a large, sunny, low-maintenance, luxury 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom house with a pool in the seaside town of Ballina in northern New South Wales. The house features all modern conveniences, including high-speed internet, satellite TV, and air conditioning (a must for the hot Aussie summers). We're 5 minutes walk from the nearest white sand beach, 5 minutes drive from Lennox Head (one of Australia's top surfing destinations) and 20 minutes drive from one of the country's most popular vacation destinations, Byron Bay. Access to our car will also be available (just make sure you're comfortable with driving on the other side of the road).
A perfect chance to escape the summer heat of Washington and try a few weeks or months down under. Visitors to Australia can stay up to 90 days on a tourist visa. Ideal for retirees looking for an extended trip abroad or families wanting to take the kids on a summer vacation adventure. The area is a popular vacation spot for swimming, surfing, scuba diving, whale watching and is fast becoming a foodie destination. Music festivals, writers festivals and more add to the charm. It's also a great home base for trips to Asia. Indonesia (Bali), Thailand, Vietnam, etc, and even exotic island destinations like Fiji & Tahiti are all a relatively quick flight away.
We're just over an hour's drive to another popular vacation destination, the Gold Coast, 2 hours to Brisbane and the local airport (15 minutes away) offers non-stop flights to Sydney and Melbourne. Fly to Sydney in 1 hour, Melbourne in 1 1/2. And bring your favorite beverages because, believe it or not, liquids are still allowed on board flights in Australia. You can leave your shoes on too.
We're looking for a house, townhouse or apartment anywhere in the Washington area. Preferably within the Beltway to avoid any long commutes.
