With our son grown up and leaving the nest, my wife and I have decided to take some time out, our 'gap year', to enjoy and explore another country and its culture.
In our 'late' 40's, I'm a construction project manager, and my wife is a senior University lecturer in Journalism.
In the past, we have both travelled extensively with work, and on holidays.
We love France, and hope to spend most of our 'year' - which can be anything from 4-6 months to 12 months - in the south of France.
But we've enjoyed visiting many other countries too, so if you live elsewhere, we're open to suggestions!
We hope to find a long-term home to swap, because we feel a 'gap year' will really give us time to live and experience, and truly appreciate!, the location and culture of our new 'home'.
