“Thank you Christine and Arthur for sharing your lovely comfortable home (and dog Obi!) in Casuarina. Walking distance to supermarket and cafes. Very close to Salt and Kingscliff. We had a wonderful time in your well appointed home together with fantastic access to the beach, walking and cycling track, Coolangatta and The Tweed. What a beautiful area that you live in. Thanks again.”
Christine's reviewsAs a host (9)
“This is an exceptional property. Christine, the host and owner is incredibly helpful with all communications and also very helpful with all information that is needed on the surrounding area. Everything is so well appointed in this home. Not only did Christine leave us with some lovely wine, but everything was completely spotless with close attention paid to every possible detail. We had wonderful comfortable beds, fluffy towels, beautiful organic soaps and hair products as well as face and body creams and Christine left out some toys for our children to use on their beds which made us all feel very welcome indeed. There was also beach cricket and many pool toys and games for the children. We are from The UK and travelled to the property with my two 70-year old parents, three children ranging from 11 years old to 5 years old as well as myself and my husband. There was ample room to accommodate us all very comfortably. My parents were in the bedroom on the ground floor as it has a great breeze and looks onto the pool and was cooler for them with a ceiling fan. There was also an en-suite bathroom with a large shower. My husband and I were in the double bedroom on the next level with our children in the bedrooms around us and we shared a large family bathroom with a shower and a bath as well as a separate wc. This room also had a ceiling fan as did my children's rooms so that we were all kept as cool as possible at night. The kitchen and open plan living space have been planned with the greatest possible care and design. A large modern kitchen space with everything a keen cook could need and large doors that open up to the garden at the back and onto the pool and bbq area. There is a formal dining room, a breakfast bar and an outside dining area that all seat a number of people and we felt very spacious and found it very easy to make delicious meals for our family with everything we could need. There is a huge double fridge/freezer with an ice-maker and filtered water. The sitting room area is very comfortable with a huge sofa with electric easy chairs and an air conditioning unit which make it cool and comfortable and was a perfect place to read a book or have an evening drink. We all very much enjoyed the pool which is just big enough to enjoy a relaxing swim and also to cool off from the heat. It's salt water and the perfect temperature which meant that our kids spent many happy hours in there. Christine kindly let us use her garage to park our car and the nearest shops/supermarkets/restaurants are just 5 mins away with Kingscliff also a very short distance away that has all shops/restaurants you could need but is not busy or touristy. We felt like we'd happened across a place that is well known to Australian holidaymakers but not to the rest of the world, which was wonderful. For us, the jewel in the crown of this property is its proximity to the most amazing beach that goes on for miles and miles - you can't see either end. It is absolutely beautiful and all you have to do is walk out of kitchen doors into the garden, through the gate at the end, cross over the bicycle path and walk down the steps to this extraordinary beach that has small area that is patrolled by lifeguards and has flags that show you where it is safe to surf and swim. We also spent many sunset hours at this beach playing with kites and beach cricket or having a glass of wine. There really are very few people on this beach and it feels very relaxing and secluded. We couldn't have had a happier or easier time at this property and can highly recommend it on every level. I'm only sorry that we aren't still there! It was lovely to meet Christine and her husband before we had to return to The UK and we do hope to keep in touch and meet them again one day or return to Casuarina.”
“Christine and Arthur were amazing hosts. The house and location was perfect for our winter break. Lot's of easy activities in easy reach ..... the highlight was the 30 second walk to kilometers of pristine beach that we had almost to ourselves. Whales, dolphins and endless walks and daily swims at the beach. Christine went out of her way to make the kids feel welcome. We did a couple of day trips and enjoyed the local eatery's. Would love to return in the future! Storm and Natalie ”
“We just LOVED our stay! Perfect communication, lovely and comfortable house for our family trip. Such a great location for exploring too. Thank you Christine for being a wonderful host. ”
“We really enjoyed our stay at Christine & Arthur's home. From the first contact Christine couldn't have been more helpful and obliging. Great location to go for an early morning or late afternoon stroll along Casuarina beach or along the footpath just off of the beach area. Loved all the bifold doors that open up to let the fresh air in. The kitchen is so well-equipped, I dare anyone to think of what's not there! Thank you again Christine and Arthur for your very kind hospitality. Brenda & Paul (Perth, WA)”
“Wow! Christine and Arthur's home is amazing. Every aspect is luxurious. It has everything you need and more. It is built for the amazing Australian climate with an outdoor pool and living area. It's a 5 minute stroll to the beautiful pristine beaches and a short walk to local amenities. A car is needed if you want to explore further afield but everything including theme parks, shopping and wildlife sanctuaries are within commutable distance. Communication with Christine was very clear. They met us on arrival to show us around and were very generous in what they said we could use. They looked after our home and cats extremely well. They went above and beyond actually, as we had been travelling for 6 weeks and our poor pussies were missing home comforts and needed some solid attention. I would thoroughly recommend Christine and Arthur and their beautiful home to anyone who wants to explore the east part of Australia or have a relaxing beach holiday.”
“Christine and Arthur's home is a wonderful base from which to explore a really great part of the Australian east coast. Just beyond their front door is miles and miles of pristine beach that is amazingly beautiful and incredibly empty. It is the perfect beach for walking and jogging and it looked great for swimming and surfing also but it was a little too chilly for us at the time of year we were there. There is also a great bike path just in front that goes for miles and connects with other small towns with very nice restaurants and stores. They offered us their bikes which were in good shape and served us well. Another thing we loved about their location is the restaurant Osteria, which is only 3 blocks away and is open most of the time and has really good food. It was very handy but also there are a couple of other extremely top-notch restaurants that are less than ten minutes away, making it quite a "foody" getaway. The house itself is very pretty and comfortable, especially the master bedroom with the lovely covered porch overlooking the ocean. It is delightful listening to the pounding of the ocean every night, making for great sleeping. I would like to express my special thanks to Christine and Arthur for the use of their wonderful home and for treating our home so well. So well, in fact, that we got a contract for sale on our house while they were there! Thanks again for that!”
“Dear Christine and Arthur, thank you for a wonderful stay and for welcoming us into your home with champagne on arrival and Halloween buckets for the kids! We appreciate the effort you went to with the bikes. We loved the beach outside your home, it was magnificent...clean, wide and beautiful. I enjoyed going to sleep at night with the strong sounds of the ocean and waking up with the sunshine on the back doorstep. Kind regards, Victoria, Adrian and the girls ”
“We had a fabulous time. The location was amazing and the house beautiful. Christine and Arthur were great to swap with as we had loads of information from them. We met up with them before we swapped and got on really well as they are a lovely couple. When we returned home our house was immaculate. They took great care of our home and I would highly recommend swapping with them. We are hoping they would like to swap again as we would love to go back to Casaurina. ”
