About our home

Modern neat 3 bedroom home with outdoor entertaining area. Located in a quiet location but accessible to city centre (public transport or drive in 30 mins). We have a car which could be available for use to allow travel to all that South Australia has to offer - Barossa Valley and Mclaren Vale wine growing districts, Murray River and the famous Coorong National Park. Kangaroo Island is a short drive and then ferry ride away. SA has excellent fishing, swimming, snorkling surfing and diving. Our house is 5 to 10 minutes drive from several fantastic beaches. Borrow my golf clubs and cart for a game at any of several great public courses nearby.

More about us

  1. We are Stephen (61) and Karen (59) . We have had several fantastic exchanges now (Canada/Austria/Switzerland/New Zealand/France, California, UK etc) and love to travel and experience other parts of the world, both close to home and further afield. We are now both retired from 30 years in the Australian Public Service and looking for lots of travel opportunities. We both have time and the inclination to travel. We are very responsible respectful people and would look after your house well - and expect the same of course. Happy to consider any enquiries or expressions of interest. We are planning a trip to Europe in December 2019, we would love to experience a White Christmas, so any interest for this would be particularly welcomed .

Where is it?

Our house in Adelaide is accessible to the city centre (drive or train) and south to tourist areas such as Fleurieu Penninsula and the Mclaren Vale wine district. Our suburb, Hallett Cove is a seaside suburb with spectacular cliffs and rocky foreshore with stunning views. The Hallett Cove Headland extends 7.2km its environment is unique in the metropolitan area, with its rugged cliffs, small coves and rocky coast. It also features world famous geological sites of remnant coastal vegetation and significant cultural presence of the Tjilbruke Dreaming. You can walk the whole coastline using the Marion Coastal Walking Trail )approx. 3 hours walk one way), or choose a section which suits your fitness level!!!Rocky beaches along Marion's coastline are different to the sandy beaches further north. They provide a different habitat for creatures that are not found in sandy areas. Numerous endangered birds use this rocky shore. i.e. the Rare Darter and Sooty Oystercatcher are often spotted on the rocks foraging for food in the water. The Rare Rock Parrot is also occasionally found in the area, and Peregrine Falcons can be seen flying over the cliffs and shore. While walking the coast trail keep your eyes peeled and you might catch a glimpse of dolphins, the Australian Sea-lion or even a shark!!! There is a network of off-road paths and bike lanes, with the bike track practically starting from our driveway. There are many beautiful sandy beaches within a short drive (5 minutes to closest). Also within an hours drive of mouth of the Murray River and world heritage Coorong National Park, the ferry to Kangaroo Island and seaside tourist resort town of Victor Harbor. The famous tourist suburb of Glenelg is only 15 minutes by car. Historic Port Adelaide is also a popular destination with its Old Lighthouse and museums and famous wharf markets.
