Our well loved 2 story, completely restored, home is an beautiful art deco Queenslander. We have a gourmet kitchen, polished wood floors throughout, gorgeous river breezes that flow through floor to ceiling French doors, and a sparkling private pool with bar-b-que area shaded by golden cane palms and banana trees.
Enjoy the twinkling city views from one of our 6 verandas while eating dinner from one of several outdoor dining tables. In the morning enjoy the tropical parrots which live in the nearby park. We'vedecorated with comfortable furniture and art from around the world.
We're responsible people who keep our home in great condition so we're always ready to welcome friends and family with open arms. Our two teenagers have been raised to gracious guests when visiting in other people's homes. We all take our shoes off at the door so we don't track dirt across the wood floors.
On the second floor, our Master bedroom features carved mahogany Rice Planters 4 poster queen size bed and bay window overlooking the front veranda. Unique plaster ceilings in Master, Living and Dining room. A charming 2nd bedroom with King single sleigh bed opens onto the back veranda via French doors. These 2 bedrooms share a lovely tiled bathroom with glass shower. The bedrooms are off the long central hallway which leads to the living and dining rooms where floor to ceiling French doors allow gorgeous river breezes to flow through the house.
1st floor features 2 additional bedrooms which are beautifully furnished and decorated. 3rd bedroom has single bed and 4th bedroom has a double bed. These bedrooms are off our Family Room where we have a Plasma TV (not in pictures). These bedrooms share the 2nd bath w/ jacuzzi tub & shower.
We have a gorgeous border collie cross dog who loves walks and hugs and a timid little cat who loves her food. We'd dearly love to have them well looked aft
Hawthorne is a upmarket neighborhood within walking or biking distance of the city. The neighboring village, Bulimba, is renowned in Brisbane for it's trendy cafe's, charming bookstores, and fabulous shops (easy walk).
Walk 3 easy level blocks to River Ferry's which take you to city (10 minute ride), 2 uni's, beautiful Southbank botantical gardens, and exciting riverside nightlife. Southbank is a fantastic riverside development with manmade beaches, Bali gardens, rock pools, outdoor cafes and theatres, and bike paths. The development buzzs with activity day and night. QPAC, the Queensland Performaning Arts Centre, features top quality art and entertainment year round. We 're also within walking distance (6 blocks, some slightly hilly) of the train and bus (bus stop at the end of our level street - 20 metres).

You can easily use our home as a base and spend the day at our glorious beaches which are 20 minutes away via car. Also, the train connects to the Stradbroke Island Ferry which makes for a fantastic day trip to a amazing island in our "backyard".
The Sunshine Coast, home to our most gorgeous beaches are an easy hour drive north of us. The Gold Coast, with it's glitzy nightlife, is an hour south. Both can be reached via the train system.
We have 2 parks near our home where you can bike, throw a ball or just stretch out on a blanket and enjoy our fabulous sunshine year round.
The river is 3 blocks from our home and has floating river walk which leads into the city and uni's.
2 charming old movie theatres are within walking distance and show the latest releases for the lowest prices in Brisbane.
Brisbane weather is said to be beautiful one day and perfect the next with year round sunshine. Our days are warm with stunning river breezes that flow in like clock work in early afternoon. Enjoy our endless blue skies. Evenings are usually refreshingly cool with constant light breezes.
My husband is an account manager with a software company and I'm in senior management with a bank.
We have two lovely teenagers, 14 & 15 who have been raised to be gracious guests in other people's homes. Occasionally, my husband's Mother travels with us.
My husband is orginally from New Zealand and has lived in Brisbane for most of his life. I'm from the USA and have lived in Brisbane for several years.
We're all highly allergic to smoke.
We love to bicycle, take long walks, and be on the water. Both of us are passionate readers and have devoted the past year to furnishing and doing things to our home which we purchased in 2006. Our teenagers are into swimming, horseback riding, and sport.
