About our home

Built in the 1860s to house the growing number of "lunatics, idiots and inebriates" in the Colony of Victoria, Kew Asylum is a grand and sprawling garden estate. Redeveloped in the 1990s when it fell into private hands as 250 modern and well-equipped apartments. On the grounds are two tennis courts, a pool, a gym, a bowling green and a basketball court. Across the road is inner Melbourne's largest native bushland in Studley and Yarra Bend parks. The city centre is 10m away by car, or 25m including traffic. Our two cats, each the brother of the other, live here permanently - Kosmo of the long hair, and Wandering Bear of the short.
