We love our house for so many reasons. The location is fabulous - a family friendly close with wonderful neighbours, and only a short walk to the beach.
Upstairs has 3 Bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Master has a king size bed, the second bedroom a queen bed, and the third has a double/single bunk. A large open plan kitchen and living area leads out to two balconies, one on each side of the house. The design provides for beautiful cross breezes to keep the house cool, though it is also fully air conditioned in every room.
The balconies are where you will spend a lot of your time – the front area has a bar table where you can enjoy evening sippers while looking out over the mountain ranges. When you’re ready to eat, just move to the back deck, fire up the gas bar-b-q, and enjoy dinner overlooking the rainforest at the rear – if you’re there at dusk, you might see some wallabies at play! During the day, you will enjoy the sight and sounds of many birds, including kookaburras, and the stunning Ulysses butterfly.
The back deck also overlooks the sparkling fully fenced pool, where you can cool off during hot North Queensland days.
Downstairs is a self contained 2 bedroom 1 bathroom unit. The privacy afforded by the separate entrance makes this perfect for several families holidaying together, or for different groups staying independently, and sharing some common areas.
This is a quiet residential area and is a fantastic location for families. Our large and fully enclosed back yard is perfect for kid’s activities, and we are happy for well behaved pets to come along on the family holiday.
We have a booster seat and portacot for your toddler, together with indoor and outdoor toys to keep everyone happy.
All linen and towels are provided. Each area of the house is equipped with basic provisions to get you started.
When you are ready to venture out from your oasis and explore, you will be spoilt for choice.
Take a wander around Cairns and the city centre, and particularly check out the waterfront. The Cairns Aquarium will open shortly, and this is sure to be a major attraction. Many guests visit the Great Barrier Reef, and why wouldn’t they?
Port Douglas is a lovely drive of less than an hour, along a windy but beautiful ocean road, and visiting the Daintree Rainforest can comfortably be done in a day trip. Palm Cove is 15 minutes to the north, and Trinity Beach 10 minutes to the south; both have many fabulous dining options.
The kids will love Hartley's Crocodile Farm. You should explore Kuranda, and you have many options including Skyrail, the Train (you can get a combo of both) or you can drive. You can go further than Kuranda too, up to the Tablelands where it is several degrees cooler and offers some stunning scenery.
Closer to home, head down to lovely, family friendly Kewarra Beach, and enjoy the children's playground and covered BBQ area. You can take your dog off leash on this beach too.
Kewarra Beach Resort has a fine dining restaurant, but also offers the Beach Shack on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Ditch the shoes and enjoy putting your feet in the sand as you enjoy gourmet pizzas, a glass of wine and some live music. Don’t forget to book though – it’s pretty popular!
There are shops close by for food and provisions, including an IGA a couple of minutes away, and Coles and Woolworths within a 15 minute drive.
You will find yourself spoilt for choice!
In mid 2017, we will settle on an apartment in Melbourne, which may also be available for your use. Ask us!
