About our home

We offer a large two storey contemporary house with lovely large balconies and day beds to enjoy the outdoors. We are in a gated community on the northern beaches of Cairns. Our two balconies overlook the private pool, large back yard and views of the rainforest clad mountain range. Small kangaroos can sometimes be seen feeding near the rear of our property, with birds visiting the bird bath in Cafe`Corner. The house has 3 bedrooms (4 Poster King, King & K Single), 3 bathrooms and study. Being inside a gated community, the area is very safe. Sunny rear balconies are great for relaxing on our outdoor sun lounges. Cross breezes and fans cool the house during the warmer months of the year. Although ducted air con is available, it is rarely used.

Please note that our house may not be suitable for families with infants or toddlers if the parents are concerned with balconies and internal stairs.

More about us

  1. We are Tony and Sharyn and we may sometimes travel with up to 2 other adult family members/friends, if they can manage to line up holidays with us. We have had the opportunity of living in England (Dorset) for 3 years, Germany for 2 years and have travelled extensively throughout Europe, North America and Asia. I am retired from the aviation industry and was a keen snow skier and golfer, whilst Sharyn who is a semi-retired ESL instructor enjoys sightseeing, shopping, sewing, floral art and charity work. We enjoy experiencing different cultures and cuisines.

We have now completed 18 exchanges visiting France, Spain, Switzerland, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Taiwan and even Australia! We have had positive experiences with every completed exchange and we will consider all offers. We ideally like to have early contact with other HE to facilitate the planning process. We are house proud home owners who value the opportunities provided through Home Exchange.

For 2019 our preference is for simultaneous/non simultaneous exchanges within Australia with our priority being Newcastle, Central Coast or Sydney. For overseas offers, we can only consider non simultaneous exchanges until October 2019, then we can consider both simultaneous and non simultaneous exchanges.

We wish all Home Exchangers, Health, Happiness and Many Great Adventures!

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are located 20km (12 miles) north of Cairns CBD. It takes 5 mins to drive to Palm Cove, with a further 5 sandy beaches within an 8 minute drive.

The Great Barrier Reef is only a short cruise away for some of the best scuba diving. Wake boarding, knee boarding, and cable skiing are only 12 mins away! There are many attractions worth visiting in and around Cairns; we can arrange enough tourist/local information to keep you busy throughout your stay. Alternatively, as many of our exchange partners have discovered, our house offers a relaxing environment to enjoy the weather, enjoy the rainforest views, read books or swim - the choice is yours!
Most tour pickups can be arranged so as you can be picked up within 300 metres of our house. If you have any particular interest just let us know.
