Located 15 minutes from perth international airport, our home is a spanish style house set in approx 3/4 acre on cultivated gardens. It has a rambling aspect and was built to accommodate the large family. It has an enclosed rear garden with a pergola, barbeque and entertainment area bordered by a large below ground pool. There is a large family area and the house would suit a family or perhaps two couples travelling together with one or two children. Each two double bedrooms have a bathroom attached, and there is an ensuite to the main bedroom, which contains a spa. We would also be willing to exchange our car - peugot 407.
While this house is set in a rural aspect, we also have a four bedroomed house approx one hour away in the beachside suburb of Mandurah. This house overlooks the Indian Ocean and it is approx 300 metres to a beautiful beach. We would be willing to make this available for part or all of the exchange.
Lesmurdie is a quiet suburb set in the Darling Range and about 30 minutes from the city of Perth itself. The house is situated in a quiet road, where the majority of houses are not visible from the street. However this rural aspect is deceptive, as we are close to public transport and within walking distance of the shops.
We are close to National Parks and to Lesmurdie Falls, which gives a beautiful vista over the city at night. Similarly we are only a short distance from the vineyards of the Swan Valley. While the hills are great for bushwalking and hiking, all the major entertainment facilities are within a short distance as well as the theatres, cinemas and galleries of Perth itself. The Swan river also offers boat tours to the original port and historic town of Fremantle as well as wine tours of the Swan Valley.
Mandurah, the site of our second house, is a typical beachside resort, which is rapidly turning into an outer suburb of Perth and is connected to the city by train (approx 50 minutes). The house is two storey and we have views of the Indian Ocean from the upper floor and balcony. This is a great spot to stay and relax, but it is also a good starting point to continue to explore the South West of the State for a couple of days, and a visit to the giant Karri forests, the beaches of Busselton and the inland wineries of Margaret River.
We are Eric and Barbara, a couple in their 50's who originally migrated from the UK in 1974 to join family. Eric has taken early retirement from the ABC where he worked as an engineer, and I am still working full time as the deputy principal of a local Catholic High school.
We have lived in the Perth hills since arriving in Perth, and have raised four adult children - three sons and a daughter. We love Perth, and have all our children either building or living close by. We have a border collie called Cody and, at present, have not quite become "empty nesters" as our daughter is still at home but is to be married in the near future, and our third son has recently returned from the UK and is living with us while his house is being built.
