About our home

We have a beautiful view looking up the Pionner Valley to Eungella, just 1 acre (easy to manage). The house was built in the mid 60's and is clean and comfortable. There are five bedrooms - 1 x queen bed room, 1 double bed room, 1 queen + 1 double below with a single top bunk bed room, 1 single bed room and mattresses on the floor for the other areas, and one bathroom (shower and toilet) in the main house area. The granny flat is currently being used as the kids area - with a flat screen tv/dvd player, WII and X Box. The large laundry has a shower room near by. In the lounge room of the main house there is a tread mill which hasn't had a good work out for years! In the garden ... There is a very large trampoline; plenty of room to kick a footy; chase a hockey ball or kick a soccer goal in the under 12 size goal post. Have a game of darts or a game of pool on the small kids table (plenty of fun to be had). We are doing some additions - a large 11 metre long inground fibreglass pool will be finished by December 2015. The surrounding entertainment area to go with it will be a work in progress throughout 2016.
In the house there is 'enough' leggo/hero factory, dress ups, cars, trucks and other toys for kids to be well entertained.
Every person that visits us in the evening comments on the awesome star spectacle on display in our al fresco entertainment area. As night time falls, try and count the stars as they appear (LOL). Spectacular views of the Milky way.
Enjoy the serenity in the afternoon while the chickens roam the property before finding their way back to their nest. Help yourself to their eggs!
Help yourself to any of the permaculture foods growing in the garden (just beginning to get established - fruit trees provide tropical fruits when in season).
Our house is in the beautiful Pioneer Valley, we have a beautiful view toward Eungella National Park - 60 minutes drive - see a Platypus in the wild.
Cape Hillsborough is less than 40 minutes drive - a truly magnificent place! See the Wallaby's on the beach in the afternoons.
Take a drive to Mackay Harbour - many eateries by the marina, fantastic kids playgrounds, get some sand in your pants and wash it out with a swim in the surf.
Go have a look at one of the worlds largest coal export facilities at Dalrymple Bay - everything about it is huge!
Go out to the wild west off Nebo! Just 40 minutes drive too.
Just stick around the home and relax - swim in the pool, soak up the views and enjoy the star display in the evening.
We teach and build so that along with our two boys (9 and 10) we can trip around checking out this wonderful world we live in. Our boys are very well behaved and understand and know how to respect others property (although they did want to bring the goldfish home from the last house swap). I would expect to find our house in the same clean and tidy manner that we would leave it - clean sheets and towels etc. We would love to leave a evening meal in the fridge for your arrival! We also have 10 chooks, one cat and a resident possum in the shed as well. Large clean and comfortable house 20 minutes North West of Mackay in the Pioneer Valley. About 1 hours drive to Eungella National Park and 40 mins to Cape Hillsborough National Park - our two favourite places! We have only completed one house swap - it was a great success! Had always used 'stayz' - to holiday in houses until we learnt the beauty of house swapping. Want to travel in school holidays regularly now! Local courtesy buses know our address if you would like to go to one of the local pubs for a meal and a few drinks as no public transport available.
