“We really enjoyed our stay at Helen’s place in Malabar. We called it our ‘penthouse suite’ as it is the whole top floor of the house with separate entrance and fabulous views over Long Bay and the headland. There is a large bedroom and a living room with a kitchen, and a separate bathroom. We had everything we needed, and Helen was kind enough to stock the fridge with some essentials before our arrival. She even supplied us with fresh tomatoes from the garden. We walked over the headland to Maroubra Beach, and then down to Little Bay in the opposite direction. We explored Malabar Beach, which has probably the safest swimming in Sydney, and also the saltwater pool, which is 5 minutes’ walk away. We also visited Randwick Golf Club, where we were made very welcome on their terrace for sundowner drinks and Sunday lunches. The views of the ocean from here are truly spectacular. There is also an indigenous people’s site just across the road, which added an intriguing touch of history. We also took the 399 bus from just outside the door that connects to the Light Rail that takes you into Central Sydney - it couldn’t be more convenient. Helen was a very considerate hostess, and kept in touch all through the process. We really hope she comes to stay with us in London again soon, as we’d really like to re-visit Malabar.”
