About our home

Comfortable family home with plenty of room for indoor and outdoor entertaining on a 2 Ha (5 Ac) property that is 1/3 natural bush backing onto Lake Goegrup which is part of the Serpentine River. This lake is an ecological reserve so there's no swimming, but we do have a canoe to enjoy this unique environment. Big shady trees to keep the house cool in summer, lots of fruit trees and a few chickens add to the lifestyle. There's also abundant bird life, bandicoots and the occasional kangaroo to see.

More about us

We (Don and Larraine) are semi-retired with grown up children. I (Don) have worked for many years as an economic development consultant mainly in developing countries and would like to continue this lifestyle through home sharing, though we haven't done it before. We would prefer extended stays - around 3 months - but not over Christmas - so that we can get to know the people and the places we are staying in. Also, it would be good if we could have some prior contact with people intending to stay here so that we can help make their stay more rewarding (and for us in their region).

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Ideally located for a touring base, or just to relax in, Mandurah is a fast growing holiday/retirement town 80 km (50 m) south of the state capital Perth. It's renown for its fishing, crabbing and beaches. Just south of Mandurah is the Margaret River wine growing region which is rapidly gaining an international reputation as a gourmet food and arts and crafts centre. The city of Perth and the port of Fremantle are less than an hour's drive away. A car would be essential for exploring the region.
