About our home

Our stunningly beautiful Eco-Home has featured in several magazines and is one of the most unique homes in Adelaide.

On a solid steel frame with a bridge to the entrance, it has an internal bridge connecting her two areas of the house.

Our home is surrounded by pristine sea air and by a canopy of hundreds of trees. There are many native birds and koalas. It is a few hundred metres from one of the world's oldest square light houses and our large property (2000m of land) becomes Marino conservation park. You can admire the beacon from the lounge room In the evening, and walk to the historic lighthouse within 10-15 minutes through the nature trail.

Polished wooden floor boards off-set three sets of French doors that open to enjoy the sea breeze. Clean lines complement the high (20 feet) ceilngs our home offers, with its wooden rafters, all of which create an serene ambience and peace. It is had to feel stressed here.

The kitchen is new and offers modern appliances and a gas stove and efficient modern oven. There is a loft in the second and third bedroom that offers a view to the lighthouse and park, and it is perfect for a cosy afternoon nap on the futon bed in the study loft in winter.

This home offers many unique features. The beach is less than ten minutes walk away. The train station into our stunning city with all of its many attractions is three minutes walk away. However our home and the property are secluded with a 100m driveway at the end of a no through road, and we only hear crickets and frogs here. You feel as if you are in the country.

The stars in the evening are abundant. It feels like you are in the country. Jetty Rd Brighton is a beautfiful 45 minute walk along the beach, or a ten minute drive. This seaside European feel street offers some of the best dining and cuisine and the most lovely coffee and people to chat with in Adelaide. Fishing is relaxed and enjoyable on the beautiful jetty. The sand is white, and the water clear and often turquoise.

There are a multitude of activities for children of all ages here, including kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, running clubs and sporting clubs, playgroups, kinder gym, and the SA Aquatic centre, ranked as the fourth best pool in the world by FINA (with cheap membership to the pool and gym upstairs, including steam room, sauna, and cafe is only 12 minutes drive away).

The air here comes off the Antartic and as such is extremely clean. Adelaide ranks as the fourth cleanest city in the world out of 250,000 registered cities for air and for street cleanliness.

Our home is fully air conditioned (there are separate high quality split system units in all room, as well as a powerful gas heater). This is the perfect place for tranquillity and serenity to offer a sanctuary to get away from the stress and compression of modern life.

Our property also has a paddock at the bottom of the property where I have at times had a pony. There are two large rain water tanks, offering 40,000 litres of rain water. I also have several aviaries as I am involved in wildfire rescue and rehabilitation.

The house self-regulates with the climate well, and offers many louvre windows that create a very pleasant breeze inside. They have an operating room filter on them so that dust cannot enter the house via the windows. We also have air purifiers for the bedroom to offer a therapeutic night's sleep. We have forty solar panels which bring energy costs down to an absolute minimum.

Hallet Cove board walk is minutes away, which enables hours of walking along our delightful coastline, views of the dolphins and seals, and exploring rock pools or watching the kite surfers find some serious air.

There is a wonderful and large deck under the house with lighting for relaxing and being together, with a rain forest area, complete with misting system, as well as a surround balcony (now with a safety rail the entire way around the house) that makes socialising a complete delight.

Cycling trails abound and there are many national parks nearby to hike and cycle in. Medical facilities here are very good and our education system is also excellent, from primary and tertiary school right through to University level. Art, Culture, and good music is something Adelaide prides itself on, and we have many regular musical events of all kinds on reguarly, ranging from classical to folk to contemporary. Surfing beaches are close by and aquatic sports enjoyed by many.

I enjoy tending to my home with care and you can be assured I would care for your home in the same way.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any queries :-)

*We are keen to go to Queensland for the winter (3-6 months) as my son is anaphylactic to the cold. Winter here is not that cold on a relative scale (it never snows, is often sunny, and is quite pleasant, but due to health reasons and to seek better health for him and me, we are keen to go to a warmer environment for winter 2018 :-) Being near the coast would be our preference.

*We are willing to consider all potential offers, and we enjoy exploring new areas :-) Thank you for your time in reading this.
