Our home is an original stone and timber hills cottage that has been extended and remodelled over it's lifetime. Kaaren is an interior designer and artist and has hand friezed walls and mosiaced the floor. It is a work in progress. It has 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 2 living areas. Our large property has an inground pool and views across to the moountain valleys and reservior. We have chooks and ducks and rabbits and plenty of space for children to roam. We have great neighbours and our families live close.
Hi my name is Kaaren I am 44 and an Interior Designer and writer. I am also a full time mum. My husband Mark is 45 and a clay modeller for the automotive industry and works abroad from time to time. We have 4 beautiful children, Tara 12, Amber 9, Kane 7, and Ella 5. They all attend the local Rudolph Steiner school which is just down the road. Before children we travelled extensively but have spent the last years raising our family. We are caring people who value our enviroment and our community. Due to Marks contract work currently in Orange County California we are looking for flexible people who are looking to spend some time exploring the wonderful area we live in and access all the other activities on offer in Melbourne. We hope to attract families that may like to take the opportunity for an extended stay, to truly feel the warmth and hospitality of hills communities.
Menzies Creek is in the Dandenong Ranges 50km east of Melbourne. A tourist destination known for it's antique shops, restaurants and beautiful state gardens and national parks the region also boasts wineries and gourmet food trails. At the bottom of our property runs Puffing Billy the local steam train which takes carriages full of tourists to Emerald Lake and beyond. We often walk along the track. There is bush walking and bird watching in many different areas and through the tree ferns forests. There are gymnasiums, tennis courts, recreation reserves, swwiming pools and all manner of sports offered. The local community houses offer short courses and are wonderful resources. The hills neighbourhoods are known for there eclectic nature, relaxed lifestyle, community spirit and craft markets. We are 5 mins by car to Belgrave, or by bus where the train to Melbourne runs regularly and takes about an hour. There are direct freeway routes that take about 45 mins to town.
