About our home

Our home is recently built modern contemporary two storey property with 4 sun decks and spa deck. The views over the lake and mountains add to the ambience of this superb location.

Welcome to our home in Merimbula! The first thing that will strike you when you arrive at our property are the wonderful vistas of Top Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges. These dynamic views will continue to capture you over your stay with the rising and falling of the sun and stars, and the incredible birdlife that flies by.

The next thing that will impress you about our home is the modernity and comfort of the building. Designed while we were living just over the road, we knew exactly what we wanted from the onset. The large windows and numerous balcony and decking areas frame the picturesque backdrop while the layout of the house is built around our active lifestyles.

Situated on a quiet road, the property is just 7 years old and still has a brand new sheen. However, the well-bedded garden and comfortable living spaces give it a timeless homely feel. As keen cooks the upstairs living area was designed around the kitchen. The wood-burning Rayburn gives the space real warmth and the butler pantry is a chefs dream for the practicalities of preparation and storage. The free-flowing inside and outside dining areas allow social occasions with family and friends to flourish around the hub of the kitchen. The whole house has a practical and contemporary design, which is softened by our mix of quaint modern and antique furnishings.

The top floor of the house is the main living area with a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining area and living room. A TV room and a toilet is set to one side of this with the master bedroom with en suite at the other. There are two balconies on this level to capture or shelter from the sun depending on the season. The large functional garage leads out to the back garden area, which contains an outdoor stove and seating area, pleasant lawn, herb garden, rolling flower beds, another decking area with a spa and shower, which is sheltered but maintains a wonderful outlook. Using the main door you are greeted with a beautiful snapshot of the lake in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs. To the left is a roomy guest dwelling with en suite, and separate balcony. A large laundry room and office area is also located at ground level for easy access to the outdoor drying area. A maximum sleeping accommodation of two bedrooms to suit two couples.

More about us

  1. Something about ourselves
Peter and I (Joan) are in our early 60’s and not entirely new to the delights of home exchanging having exchanged a couple of years ago to Scotland. Both are eager to visit the northern and Southern Hemisphere with our love of travel and visiting new places, thought this would be an ideal way to see new locations as a resident.
I have lived in Merimbula for 30+ years arriving here from the UK in the early 1980’s. In 2020 we would like to visit UK, Norway, Scotland an Canada. We also are looking forward to photographing some of the spectacular scenery these destinations offer.
We both enjoy gardening, walking, cooking also reading. Living in our new home for 7 years we look forward to sharing the ambience of our beautiful home and spectacular part of the world with our fellow exchangers.

  2. We are not yet retired, however we can look forward to extended leave and would like to spend upto 10 weeks exploring the UK and looking for a long term exchange if possible around the Bristol, Gloucester or Somerset areas for a base as family live in each of those counties.
