“I, along with two friends, stayed at Hugh and Ros\'s house in Merimbuls NSW Australia in April 2017. Good location just a short walk into town, large house with everything you need for a very relaxing holiday. Hugh and Ros had left us loads of local info and even a box of chocolate plus a bottle of wine! Would heartily recommend this place for a chill out time. Barry Moor.”

About our home
We have been holidaying at Merimbula as a family for more than 30 years. We bought our house in 2003 and have spent many wonderful holidays there. We love having a choice of beaches, great fishing and whale watching, beautiful bush walks and some great restaurants. Our house is centrally located within walking distance of the shops, beaches and a wonderful walking path around the lake. The house is spacious with three double bedrooms upstairs as well as a lounge room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and separate toilet. Downstairs there is a separate large bedroom which will sleep four as well as a laundry, shower and toilet.
We have a surfboard, surf ski, boogie boards, numerous wetsuits for all sizes (as our kids have grown out of them) and snorkelling equipment available. We can also make a car available.
There's nothing better than sitting on the deck looking over the lake and town with a nice wine at sunset.
If the exchange was simultaneous it's likely that our family home in Canberra would also be available. It is a large house in the small rural village of Hall on the outskirts of Canberra with five bedrooms, a pool and tennis court.

Hugh's reviews
As a host (2)“Merimbula is a lovely place and the comfortable house of Hugh & Ros has eveything you need, very central in the little town. We loved it. Hugh & Ros welcomed us like family members and we felt very cosy in their nice home. Thank you both!!! we had a lovely stay.”
More about us
-
We are Ros and Hugh, a couple in our mid 60s with three adult children. Ros is a retired teacher and Hugh a consultant to government. Hugh was born near Merimbula and has been holidaying there all his life and Ros has come to love it since their marriage 39 years ago. We live in Canberra and try to get to Merimbula as often as we can.
We have completed four house exchanges and they were delightful. We have several more arranged. We look forward to doing more house exchanges; particularly in New Zealand but we are open to anywhere in the world when COVID permits. We're open to travel anytime. It doesn't have to be simultaneous, as you can come to us at any time except mid-December until March.
We will look after your home as if it were our own.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Merimbula is a small coastal tourist destination of about 5000 people, half way between Sydney and Melbourne. It has daily air services from both Sydney and Melbourne. Major supermarkets and retail outlets are available in town - a five minute walk. Should you wish to eat out a variety of restaurants are also located there specialising in seafood. There is also a pub and several clubs. A 10 minute walk will also get you from home to the beach which is free and patrolled by lifesavers in summer time. A 5 minute drive (or 20 min walk) will get you to the 27 hole championship golf course (http://www.pambulamerimbulagolf.com.au). Another 4 golf courses are within 30 min drives. Fishing boats are also for hire on the lake.Should the cities be an attraction Merimbula has an airport with daily 1- 1.5hr flights to both Sydney and Melbourne (otherwise a 6hr drive to both). Canberra, the national capital where we have lived for 37 years is a 3hr drive by car and well worth a visit. Nearby National parks provide all levels of hiking tracks through bushland with spectacular coastline scenery. There is a thriving arts and music community and there are also a number of local art and craft galleries that are worth a visit. Merimbula is situated in an area called the Sapphire Coast - renowned for its beautiful coloured waters. Scuba lessons and hire are available. A cycle track runs from Merimbula to the neighboring town of Pambula Beach.
A real attraction in March April and again in September-October is the whale migration: https://youtu.be/nLbPyt8TjAM
