Our HOME is in the leafy suburb of Mosman, which is only 10 minutes from the heart of Sydney. It comprises 3 large bedrooms, one king, one double and the third with two single divans, which also serves as the study. It has two and a half bathrooms, a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. For entertainment, bring your iPod as we have a docking station and we also have a large flat screen plasma TV, which is connected to cable. A separate internal laundry is equipped with Miele appliances.
Our home has a huge 60 square metre deck with an 8-seater dining table and an 8-seater outdoor setting. A large gas barbecue is also on the deck and provides for great casual meals outdoors. For shade, in the summer, we have two easy to operate umbrellas, one of which is quite large. A smaller gas barbecue is installed at the rear of the house, just outside the kitchen; great for quick meals. The home is very secure with camera intercom and electric gates. A double garage with automatic entry is at the front of the house. Reverse-cycle air conditioning provides cool in the summer and heat in winter. In addition, a gas heater is installed.
MOSMAN itself is a very affluent and desirable suburb that has a village atmosphere. There are many quality restaurants and cafes within walking distance form our home. Mosman is a locality that has many independent boutique stores selling clothing, accessories, home-wares etc. A selection of high-end providores, bakeries and patisseries can also be found locally. In addition there exist numerous amenities such as food shopping, banking, post office that are within walking distance of the house.
BALMORAL BEACH is a three-minute drive or ten-minute walk from our home. The beach itself if very child-friendly as there is no surf due to the fact that it is in a bay. It is possible to hire small sailing craft, kayaks, windsurfing equipment and the like. For lovers of the surf, Manly Beach is a ten-minute drive that is also served by public bus. Going north from Manly there are many surf beaches from which to choose, all with beautiful white sand close to cafes and restaurants; a real playground for lovers of the water. If you are fond of walking bring your walking shoes, as there is a series of foreshore walks that connect many of the beaches. These walks take you through some beautiful bushland and offer breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour and the northern beaches.
SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE
Transport to this landmark can be by bus, a service running frequently with a stop 50 metres from our house. Alternately, it is possible to catch the ferry, which provides a very scenic view of Sydney Harbour that we highly recommend. The ferry journey itself is a most enjoyable 20-minute ride. The Opera House is situated in the heart of the city and the ferry terminal is just a pleasant 150-metre walk. Nearby there are many vibrant bars, great restaurants such Guillaume, Aria, Tetsuya’s and many other hatted restaurants.
For a little bit of culture, you may walk to numerous museums, art galleries, the State Library, the Botanical Gardens etc.
TARONGA ZOO
Another local attraction very close to our home is the world class Taronga Zoo that is well worth a visit.
COUNTESS PARK
A lovely park equipped with playground apparatus suitable for children, under shade, is within a very short walking distance to the home. Kids will love it!
