About our home

Paringa is approx. 280 kms from the state capital Adelaide. The drive takes around three hours from Adelaide and 8 hours form Melbourne. Our home was built in 2000. It overlooks the Murray River and floodplain.
We have a large kitchen adjacent to the family area, great for entertaining or relaxing. A separate lounge room and upstairs lounge area with large entertaining areas outside. There are shady verandas all around the house. Our garden is planted to mostly native plants and attracts local birds and wildlife we often have kangaroos on the lawn and in the garden, its not unusual to see emu and recently we had an echidna in the garden. There is a boat ramp very close and we have a spot on the river to water ski form and picnic at.
Westerly windows allow for amazing views across the floodplain, ever changing.
Main bedroom with ensuite has views across the river, as do two of the upstairs double rooms.
Our home a five minute drive into the town of Paringa, and five minutes to the unique Wilkadene brewery. The larger town of Renmark is ten minutes drive by boat or car, which is where we shop, and there are resturants and a hotel and club. Other local towns of Loxton, Berri, and Barmera are small rural towns servicing the Riverland area.

Where is it?

Our home is in a quiet location with four neighbours, but they are mostly hidden from view and not at all close. You can see houseboats and other river traffic from our front verhanda and lounge room. We are adjacent to world recognised RAMSAR wetlands where over 60 bird species have been identified. It is a lovely area to walk and explore, or put the boat in a and water ski, explore the creeks fish or relax. We often have kangaroos visit our garden.

Buzzy restaurants
There are a few good places to eat in Renmark just 12 kms into town a greek style resturant attached to Mallee Estates winery called Elenis, a cool pizza cafe Smokehouse in town with a casual atmosphere.
Cool bars
Just 6km up the road is a unique local craft brewery a gorgeous place to hang out on the river, selling beers wine and alcoholic squash style drinks as well as coffee.Wilkadene brewery has a great following and there is usually a buzz happening on weekends.
Cozy cafés
Our favourite is in Renmark called Arrosto a local couple has rennovated the old fire station and roast coffeethere. They serve the best coffee in town with great service.
Retail therapy
There a a couple of boutiques in town.
Bit of culture
There is a small art gallery in Paringa, a museum in Renmark and a theatre which shows current movies and has shows visiting.
Walks in the park
There is a great signed walk in the town of Renmark explaining interesting history, on Saturday mornings there is a ~Park Run~ where people gather and complete a 6km walk or run along the town riverbank.
Spot of exercise
Water skiing is popular in the riverland and our stretch of the river is perfect being out of the main town it is often quiet. There are a couple of gyms in town and a pilates studio.
