About our home

We are a retired couple who love to travel. We have 4 children, 2 of whom live in the UK.

We are ideally looking for a house swap in the UK for an extended period, 3-6 months, in the second half of 2018, but would consider all proposals.

Our comfortable two storey family home is set in a quiet leafy suburb, equally distanced from the shores of Lake Macquarie and the city of Newcastle. The house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 toilets, formal lounge, second living area with a sofa bed, kitchen, study, air conditioning and pool. Blackbutt Reserve is just a few minutes drive away. Here you can pat and have a photo taken with a koala bear or enjoy it’s many walking tracks and picnic areas.

We are 25 minutes drive from Newcastle airport, which services Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane and a 2 hour drive from Sydney. The M1 and John Hunter Hospital are just a few minutes drive away and The University of Newcastle is 15 minutes.

Newcastle is Australia’s second oldest city and has many world class beaches. The city precinct has been slowing undergoing a change seeing many new restaurants and bars as well as the newly built Bathers Way, which is a walk linking many of the inner city beaches and includes the Bogey Hole (a convict-built ocean bath) and the Anzac Memorial Bridge. The centre of Newcastle is a 15 minute drive.

Beautiful Lake Macquarie is Australia’s largest coastal salt water lake and is also a 15 minute drive. The Hunter Valley vineyards is easily accessible and is a 45 minute drive.
