“We had a wonderful holiday at Sue and Mels home. Magnetic Island is idyllic, we wanted a restful holiday and that was exactly what we got. The house was extremely comfortable and we felt very much at home. Sue and Mel could not of been more helpful and accommodating, lending their car to us and helping arrange trips out. We enjoyed walking on the island and time swimming in the sea from the near empty beaches, the reefs off the beaches being wonderful. Everyone we met on Magnetic island and in Townsville was friendly and helpful, the public bus driver even diverted his route to drop us at the ferry. We had never home swapped before, but don t think there is any way our experience could of been improved. A big thank you to Sue Mel and Lovehomeswap. ”
Sue's reviewsAs a host (3)
“Sue and Mal were very relaxed and it was easy to communicate with them. Their house was in a lovely location set amongst a lovely tropical garden and a fabulous pool. The house is very comfortable and has three bedrooms each with a bathroom. It has everything you could possibly need, even a family of kookaburras who will eat off your hand. The island has stunningly beautiful beaches, great walks and a wide variety of activities on offer. The people are really friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Magnetic Island as holiday destination.”
“Our trip to Picnic Bay was wonderful, the house exactly as pictured and all very clear and tidy. Sue was a great communicator who helped us get the most out of our visit. The island is a naturally beautiful place, and we easily occupied 2 weeks there. September and October is a magical time to visit! Take your walking shoes, as there are many wonderful walks to secluded bays that are not too long for kids (30 mins or so).”
Where is it?
Magnetic Island (Known by locals as "Maggie") is a beautiful tropical island with easy access to the Great Barrier Reef.
It is an easy 20 minute ferry trip from Townsville, unofficial capital of far north Australia. Maggie offers a relaxing holiday suitable for families and those who want a quiet escape, away from more commercial places, although there are plenty of appealing restaurants and pubs for those who want a break from household chores.
The scenery is dazzling and the locals (both human and animal) are friendly and approachable.
