Our home is a spacious open plan bungalow with plenty of entertaining room and a small deck with a barbecue. We have a very friendly cat and 3 chooks. The garden is very productive with vegetables and citrus fruit trees will start producing soon. There is a lovely front sunroom which offers a warm nook in winter but the back area is perfect for summer.
“We had a lovely stay in this cosy home, with a modern kitchen and bathroom. The location gave us a good chance to explore the beautiful scenery and clean, unspoilt beaches of Port Macqarie and surrounding areas. Our hosts were very generous and left bread, milk and fruit for us when we arrived.”
“This is the 2nd exchange we have had with Tom and Libby at two different properties. The home is very nice with all amenities on a modern estate. Country living style with fresh eggs every day from 3 prolific chickens. It is only 8 minutes into downtown Port Maquarie which has most of the attractions of many larger cities. There are nearby attractions within half an hour by car. Tom and Libby left our place spotless. Bet and Ron”
“Libby and Tom offer a unique opportunity to enjoy country living with nearby trips to beautiful beaches. We enjoyed the change from big town living with fresh free range eggs, and produce from the garden. Watching wild kangaroos from the lounge window was an additional treat. “We had the pleasure of spending two weeks in Tom and Libby’s comfortable home in February this year.Such a liveable home with a wonderful outlook to distant hills by day and a massive starry sky at night, not to mention a friendly cat and fresh eggs daily from three gorgeous ginger chooks. Port Macquarie is so scenic and several beaches, town centre, wineries and attractions were within easy reach from this central location. Exploring the surrounding area meant taking some wonderful day trips to amazing countryside and the glorious ocean beaches and we found that two weeks were not enough. We look forward to our next exchange with the lovely, friendly, hospitable Tom and Libby.”

“We have just completed our first home exchange with Tom and Libby Meakin in their lovely house in Port Macquarie. Their place is very comfortable and well equipped. It is near to the city center either by car or walking. And all the suggestions Tom and Libby gave us were right on the money. Already we miss our daily walks along the beaches and through bush land! Tom and Libby looked after our place as if it was their own. We arrived home to a spotless house and glowing reports of them by a neighbours. We recommend a swap with them. Port Macquarie is a beautiful city and Tom and Libby have become very good friends.”
My wife Libby and I are retired teachers. We have a son in Brisbane and a daughter in Edinburgh both of whom have children so we like to visit them often. We love our current life but like to get away occasionally to enjoy other parts of the world but, more recently, Australia.
Port Macquarie is a large city with its own airport and nearly every shop imaginable. Our house is not far from the beaches. A main road passes nearby but we live in a very quiet street. There is a medical centre nearby and the city centre is just minutes away by car or one hour away on foot. There are numerous beaches nearby and some fantastic coastal walks. Whale and dolphin watching is common during the season and there are cruises available to get up closer. Port, as the locals call it, boasts a fantastic entertainment centre; the Glasshouse, which has the best acoustics we have ever heard. There's a beautiful Rainforest reserve. Add to this the fantastic array of cafes and restaurants and you have a recipe for one of the nicest coastal cities in Australia.
