“Annette and Terry are a lovely easy going couple and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours with them playing golf. Communication with Annette was perfect, Annette was also kind enough to pick me up from the airport and any one will know, this takes so much stress out of an exchange. Their home is in a beautiful area overlooking the Tamar River. The home is gorgeous with a picture perfect view that you will find hard to beat. A very comfortable place to stay and the bed was lovely. Its in a quiet area but close to shops and the Tamar Valley Wine Route. I enjoyed visiting Launceston and the lovely walks that Annette and Terry had recommended. I would certainly recommend an exchange with this couple and home. I would hope to come back iand stay n the future or even if its just to meet them for a coffee and cake. I look forward to them coming to my home Stirling in July.”

About our home
We're located only fifteen minutes drive from Launceston and thirty minutes drive from the airport, overlooking the Tamar River in the heart of the Tamar Valley Wine Region. Our home overlooks the tourist route through the valley, which is used for both recreational and cycling clubs.
Surrounded by vineyards and farm land, yet only a three minute drive takes you to our local shopping-centre with supermarket, cafe's, take-away's etc... We have choice of four pubs all within a ten minute drive, including the Swiss Village pub at Grindelwald and our local, built in 1831 at Rosevears, which also houses a fabulous bakery.
Our home reflects our easy-going lifestyle and is decorated with our travel experiences. We're fortunate to enjoy an amazing view of the abundant birdlife on the river all year round from our living area and front balcony. We've recently completed a renovation at the back of our home, including entry through a glass sliding door where there is now a small sitting room, bathroom, two bedrooms and laundry. Opening the door into the main part of our home takes you down the wide hallway (the main bedroom/ensuite and a fourth bedroom, which is currently not used as part of the swap, are off this hallway) leading you into the open-plan living/dining area and kitchen. We have two reverse-cycle air-conditioners that operate all winter, keeping our entire home cozy and comfortable throughout the cooler months.
The main bedroom has a king size bed, the other two have queen size beds and electric blankets, with spare blankets, pillows, linen, etc... in the robes of the third bedroom.
We have a lovely garden to stroll through and a variety of espalier fruit trees and vegetable gardens to enjoy. Our purpose built gymnasium is at the front of our property and contains a rowing machine, bench press, squat rack, free weights etc... During the warmer months the front balcony is equipped with comfortable outdoor furniture and we also have a single kayak available as well as golf clubs, bags, buggies etc.. Tasmania has seventy-five golf courses, dozens within an hours drive from our home!
Tasmania has a land mass of 64,500 km2 with a population of only half a million, making it a rare place indeed! There are direct daily flights to Launceston from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, with daily departures on board the Spirit of Tasmania from Port Melbourne to Devonport (an hours drive away). We truly are unbelievably spoilt living on this island, with beaches, snowfields, wine/food trails and the most picturesque sceneries within easy access!
Our home may not be suitable for small children, due to the balcony and in warmer months we ask you to water the pot plants.
We expect you to leave our home as you find it as we will yours, whether it be simultaneous, non-sim or points.

“We feel so privileged to have stayed in Annette and Terry's spacious, comfortable and well-equipped home. The elevated decking area was such a relaxing place to sit, with an extensive garden surrounding it which contained some flowers I'd never seen before along with a range of fruit trees. The view of the River Tamar was mesmerising; being tidal it was different at various times of the day. Those lovely views were even available from the gym in the garden! With so many lovely attractions within easy reach, such as the Cataract Gorge in Launceston, the Tamar Wetlands and Grindelwald, this was our favourite area of Tasmania. A wealth of information was available if we’d had time to explore further afield. Annette and Terry are brilliant hosts and it was a delight to meet them. Annette’s excellent communication skills made arranging this swap so easy. The generous welcome pack included Terry’s superb homemade wine, gin and brandy plus eggs from their chickens. This is a trip that will remain in our hearts forever. Thank you so much for making it possible! ”
“An absolute delightful holiday in a beautiful home. Both Annette and Terry made us so welcome The views were magnificent and just the pace we wanted . Recommend the area and home to all. ”
“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Annette and Terry’s home overlooking the Tamar. ”
“We had a lovely swap at Annette and Terry's home. The house and the location was exactly as described. The house is spacious and very comfortable and was perfect for a relaxing stay. Terry's home made chardonnay and gin were delicious and most welcome after a day out sightseeing! The Tamar Valley is stunning and the house is riverfront with fabulous views. We walked, did winery visits and had a great time. We also did a day walk at cradle mountain which was well worth the drive.”
“Annette and Terry provided a wonderful home in Rosevears, Tasmania. Their home was perfect, with comfy beds, plenty of space, a very well equipped kitchen and warmth for the frosty days and nights. The view from their front room was spectacular! They were great communicators and provided very detailed information about their home and information about their local area. We loved being able to use their car for travelling the width and breadth of Tassie. Thank you so much for enabling us to enjoy all the delights of Tasmania. ”
“We loved our stay at this property … Annette & Terry were great communicators & everything went smoothly! Their home was perfectly located with a picturesque view of the river & only 15mins from Launceston. Their beautiful home has everything you could possibly require & we have no hesitation in recommending it to others. From the wonderful warm welcome until we departed we had a lovely time … THANKYOU! ”
“We had such a lovely time at Annette & Terry's home. The house has amazing views over the river & is very warm, especially when it was cold outside. We loved their chickens & the fresh eggs they supplied. The house is in a great location just out of Launceston, there is plenty to see & do in the area. Annette & Terry were easy to get along with, were very flexible which was great in these covid times & border shutdowns and we hope we will have the opportunity to swap again at a future date. ”
“It was a great swap for us. Annette and Terri's home was beautifully presented and cozy during the Tasmanian winter. Their view is spectacular, and they were very thoughtful of our first house swap. We learned a lot during this time about what makes a good swap; and Annette and Terri know how to do it. When we returned our house was spotless, wow! Thank you guys we loved your picturesque home and views and rate it very highly. It made travel in Tassie a real joy. All the best Ray ”
“We had a wonderful stay in Annette and Terrys beautiful home in Rosevears. The perfect location to explore all that Launceston and the beautiful surrounds have to offer. We did some amazing day trips to the winery areas in the Tamar Valley, through the beautiful and historic heartlands of Deloraine and Ross and into the wilds of Derby, the Little Blue Lake and some beautiful walks and waterfalls. There really is so much to love about this area not least of which was the hospitality of Terry and Annette. Wonderful communicators pre, during and post our stay. Loads of local information and "tourist"tios including, shopping, dining and local specialties. Nothing was too much trouble. It was a truly great experience and we really are so grateful to Terry and Annette for sharing their beautiful home. ”
“A beautiful location and water views. A lovely comfortable warm home. Annette was really onto it with communication and left us some nice home made treats. The bed was particularly comfortable. A pity we didn't get more time to meet the chickens and sit out on the veranda to enjoy the view. ”
“We were lucky enough to meet Annette and Terry before they left for a golfing break so we had a personalised handover. The home is exactly as described and is beautifully decorated and maintained. Lazy breakfasts looking out over the Tamar River were a delight and the information provided allowed us to maximise our stay. This exchange was everything that we hoped for and if returning to this area we would be in touch like in a shot! Thank you Annette and Terry for everything.”
“It was such a seamless experience dealing with Annette. She communicates so well and both Annette and Terry have a beautiful and well organised home. We enjoyed the comfy beds, lounge chairs and the wonderful deck furniture where we could sit and watch the peaceful water and hills views. The well equipped large kitchen offers perfect ambience for family and friends to enjoy cooking together. The tastefully decorated home combined with a wonderful location and friendly hosts make this a highly recommended home swap.”
“Annette & Terry were the perfect guests and spent ages cleaning before they left. Very friendly joined us and friends for a drink in Kingsbridge during fair week. ”

Terry and I utilise our purpose built gymnasium, by volunteering our time to help others re-gain their strength and independence. We both love gardening, playing golf and remaining fit and strong. We also plan to play every golf course in Tasmania : ).
We have travelled extensively, spending twenty years living and working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I worked in the Australian Embassy as well as teaching in the King's horse riding school. Terry was an Aircraft Engineer in the RAAF and utilised his skills working and teaching Saudi students in the Royal Saudi Arabian Air Force. We have also spent two years based in London, working and travelling. -
We are now enjoying the lifestyle of being retired and spending our free time doing what we love......... travelling! We're both believers of self-education, spending our spare time reading and studying, but most of all appreciate living in a beautiful hidden away part of the world!

Neighbourhood
There are many wineries scattered throughout the Tamar Valley! The Tamar Valley Wine Centre in Exeter can inform you which wineries are open and at what times, they also supply most of the local wines. We've enjoyed countless meals and functions at the wine centre, so very happy to recommend a meal and a glass of something special! We're within a short walk from Elmslie Tasmania, which offers a great cafe/restaurant and the 'Beautiful Isle Cellar Door' next door! If you enjoy a gin and tonic don't miss out on a visit to the Turner Stillhouse next to the Tamar Ridge Winery, they provide tastings and a tour of the distillery. The Legana and Grindelwald pub and our local at Rosevears all offer great tasty pub food, the pub at Exeter is popular for its Thai dishes and does takeaway.
There are several choices of golf courses near by, including our local nine hole course at Exeter, a short course at Gridelwald and Riverside's eighteen hole course. The famous Barnbougle is about an hours drive away.
The Cataract Gorge in Launceston is well worth a day out, take a picnic or choose from the restaurant or cafe for some great eats! There's a full size Olympic pool in the park as well as the suspension bridge and chair lift, that takes you from one side of the river to the other.
