About our home

Our home is being renovated lovingly with rustic locally milled timbers, earth and timber floors and walls, using natural oils and finishes wherever possible, so right now we can only email photos of the interior. Light and sun pours in through large windows seats and french doors all along the northern wall to the living areas, which open onto a north facing herb and kitchen garden. All of our produce is organic and we are developing a biodynamic herb farm and market garden. Surrounded by beautiful farmland to the north, with forest at the rear, which borders nature reserve. Nice walks and places for nature experiences, solitude, bike riding and walking. Three wild geese visit the dam island below our orchard/permaculture food forest in the afternoon, along with many other birds. In the evenings the pademelons and possums emerge, and if lucky you may see or hear some tasmanian devils. The living area is spacious and open plan, with a piano and fire to keep warm and cook on, or bake in the oven. The lounge area includes a stereo, VCR, DVD, and flat screen television, with a quality leather sofa and comfortable sofa bed. A stone fire BBQ is outside, perfect for experiencing the forest afternoons. The main bedroom contains a king size bed with woolen underblanket and doona. Two single beds are available for children or extra guests, along with a double sofa bed. The bathroom and laundry contain bath, shower, washing machine, dryer and iron.

Where is it?

Sisters Creek is in the beautiful north west of Tasmania. Good access to national parks, beaches, forest, west coast, and the Tarkine rainforest. Beautiful restaurant and children's playground right on the beach 10 minutes away at Boat Harbour, along with general store. We're 20 minutes from Wynyard, a small coastal community with all basic shopping facilties, and airport. Burnie is 35 minutes away, which is a larger regional centre for the north west. Our climate is surprisingly warm and mild for Tasmania, and very stable, with most rain falling from autumn to spring. Cradle Mountain National Park is around 1:45 hours away. Our location is very peaceful, nestled in the foothills of a sheltered valley with lots of wildlife and only native forest and farms around us. There are nice short bushwalks on and around our property. Crisp, clear nights are ideal for stargazing away from the city lights.
