The apartment is centrally located in a fashionable lively suburb of inner Sydney, renowned for its winebars, vibrant restaurants and cafes, original boutiques, small galleries and alternative theatres (Sydney's 'Marais' district).
The building was converted to apartments 12 years ago and is well maintained and secure. The 120 sq m penthouse apartment is on the top two floors, quietly situated at the back of the building whose front faces a newly re-landscaped park with tennis courts, children's playground and new outdoor Olympic Pool (heated in winter) with café. There are balconies on both floors of the apartment which has district views. Upstairs there is one main bedroom with walk in robe and ensuite, a second room set up as a small consulting room (with desk and chaise longue only) and the main bathroom. Downstairs comprises small entry hall with staircase and WC, generous main living/dining room, attractive open plan kitchen and an enclosed verandah/study beyond the living room. So while it can at a pinch sleep 4 with a sofabed in living room, it is really most suitable for a couple. The apartment is pleasantly furnished, receiving morning sun and afternoon cooling sea breezes from the south and east.
There is a bus stop across the road for transport to the city, the Quay and The Rocks, and another bus stop one block away for buses to Coogee Beach (and Wileys Baths). Go Get cars are readily available in the surrounding streets, including one immediately outside the building, The building is also a 5 minute walk from Central railway station with city circle and suburban trains, light rail (to Sydney Markets, the Fish Market, Darling Harbour and the Casino, and the lively suburbs of Glebe and Rozelle), airport link and intercity rail and bus termini. Sydney University, Darling Harbour and the Art Gallery are a twenty minute walk, Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House and The Rocks historic precinct all reachable on foot in 40 minutes.The CBD is between the apartment and the Quay.
The apartment is available for 5 days from Friday to Wednesday only - other than my vacation times, when it might be available for one week.
My main home is located in Wentworth Falls, a desirable part of the world heritage Blue Mountains just west of Sydney, offering bushwalking, quaint villages, magnificent scenery, and accessible by direct train from Central station (2 hours) or by car (1.5 hours). The house is attractive, modern, solid, with plenty of glass and light. It is well equipped, has 4 bedrooms, gas central and slow combustion heating. It could be part of a swap and is also advertised under the Blue Mountains on this site.
