About our home

This was originally our holiday home bit we made the tree change from Sydney five years ago and have never regretted it. the home was renovated 10 years ago and has a relaxed, indoor outdoor feel. Lots of bifold doors open out to the large covered verandas. Airconditioned bedrooms and all rooms have fans and louvered windows. It is welcoming and relaxed - ideal for kids. We are on 25 acres, including amazing tropical gardens, natural water features (we have a large waterfall that fills a swimming hole) We back onto the Daintree National Park - all tropical rainforest. We are 20 minutes from Port Douglas were all the tours leave for the Great barrier Reef and 10 minutes from Mossman township which has all the local conveniences.
We have two boys aged 9 and 11 and our house is kids friendly although if you have toddlers, we do have a pond and open water ways. The kids (and adults!) have access to cable TV, and an xbox. We have a salt water swimming pool. The area we are in is called Whyanbeel. It is a valley with a river running through it and very tropical jungle feel. As this is a prime tourist destination there are ample tourist operators, amazing restaurants and really lovely local markets. We also have three dogs and a large amount of mixed poultry. You would not have to feed these (unless you wanted to!) as I would organise someone to to this. Our place is very lovely, earthy and relaxed. Our part of the world is a popular tourist destination and the beuty of the rainforest and reef is undeniable. However, this is the rainforest and we do have snakes and spiders and all sorts of other amazing wildlife. We also have no mobile phone reception (although there is internet and a landline) Our place is ideal for a family looking to try something different.
