About our home

In the stunning Wandiligong Valley, just 5 minutes out of the busy tourist town of Bright, you will find this gorgeous Miner's Cottage set on one acre. The main house has 3 bedrooms, an open plan living area with hard-wood timber flooring, an updated kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and filtered water, a brand new bathroom, an internal laundry and an air conditioner in the living/kitchen area. There are Nobo heaters in the living area and all the bedrooms. Separate to the house is a spacious and comfortable bungalow with its own modern bathroom with shower. It offers a queen bed and two single beds along with an air conditioner and heating, table and chairs, bar fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery. Use of the bungalow is an additional $100 per night. Depending on the time of year you visit our mature fruit trees will provide you with nectarines, peaches, plums, apples, cherries, olives, figs, lemons and chestnuts as well as a lovely summer harvest of raspberries and grapes. A spacious chook pen has been converted into a dog run. The land is clean and pesticide free and all our cleaning products are chemical free. All linen is provided. A bath towel and a face washer is also provided for each guest along with a Natural Earth soap and a conditioning shampoo. Our kitchen is fully equiped including a large rice cooker, a slow cooker and a microwave. It does not have a dishwasher and we have an electric oven. The couch is well worn and will need replacing at some point but right now it doesn't bother us. It kind of adds to the rustic charm of the place. This is a beautiful property surrounded by stunning views, abundant birdlife and a peaceful location. You can enjoy watching the hangliders and paragliders from the front deck, relax in the deep soaker tub or cosy up with a book in front of the wood heater. There is no wifi available at the property. You will need to connect to your own wifi devices. With plenty of room for kids to run around along with a playground, sandpit and trampoline this is a perfect country retreat!

Where is it?

Wandiligong is a beautiful historical gold mining town nestled in a valley just a few minutes drive from Bright. Our home is 200 metres from the 3km bike track that runs along the river into Bright. We are a short walk to the famous Wandi hedge maze and cafe and a longer walk, bike or drive to the Wandi pub which has new owners and is rapidly building an excellent reputation for their hospitality and culinary delights. Bright is famous for its cafes and restaurants. In the Summer you can head to the Ovens river and splash park to relax in the cool fresh water. There is tandem paragliding on offer off Mystic hill. Bright and the neighbouring Mt Beauty is a mountain biker's mecca. Road riders also delight in the seven peaks challenge (the area offers Falls Creek, Bright and Mt Buffalo to tick off the list). There is rock climbing and caving at Mt Buffalo. Drop a line in the Ovens, Buckland or Kiewa rivers. You can try Gold Panning, four wheel driving, golf, horse riding, helicopter flights and on certain weekends you can indulge in the famous Make it, Bake it, Grow it market in Centenary Park. Head to the Bright brewery anytime and enjoy what they have to offer especially on a Sunday afternoon when the live music kicks in. We could go on...really...we could... And we will go on...snow! In the winter Hotham is 1hr 20 mins drive away. Falls Creek is around 1 hr 30mins drive away and Mt Buffalo is 35 mins drive away. Downhill and cross country skiing, tobogganing , skidoo rides, it never ends...
