Our home is set on the banks of the Inglis River and surrounded by a park-like garden. It is on three levels (garage, main living and sewing room with balcony). All the rooms have either water or garden views. The seclusion of the setting gives very little indication that it is located in a town.
The home has ducted heating throughout and has the added benefit of a slow combustion wood fire.
Wynyard offers trout, fly and sea fishing; has two golf courses, and there are board walks along the banks of the Inglis River. Use my kayak to explore the Inglis and the ocean cliffs.
To the west of Wynyard is the blue water and white sands of Boat Harbour Beach, and an hours drive from Wynyard is the town of Stanley. Wynyard is also a good staging point for travel to Strahan and the west coast (2:15 hours away) and Cradle Mountain (1:20 hours). Even Hobart at the southern end of the island is only 4 hours away by car.
Margaret and I (David) are both retirees in our early 60s. We are avid ballroom dancers who enjoy the company of others but also enjoy the solitude of nature. Margaret is a dedicated quilter and half of our house seems to be committed to it. I was a lecturer in computing and Margaret was in educational administration with a on-farm background.
We came from South Australia on a holiday and immediately fell in love with the green hills and rocky beaches of the north coast. For those like us who enjoy nature and walking this is a lovely place to live.
We like animals and would be prepared to look after pets but we have none now because we travel in our caravan for extended periods.
