“We stayed in Wiebe and Gerda's apartment, situated in a quiet residential area of Vienna, for 8 days during August 2017 and found it spacious, luxurious and very well equipped with all the facilities needed to make our stay comfortable. The apartment is very centrally located with the underground train station (and well known night market) about 100m away, including the central train station and central Vienna within easy distance. Wiebe and Gerda are wonderful hosts and as courtesy left us some foodstuffs which they did not all want replaced. They also offered us a bottle of wine from their selection! We found our communications per email easy and relaxed. Wiebe and Gerda's hospitality hugely contributed to our experience of Vienna and we can highly recommend an exchange with them.”

Wiebe's reviews
As a host (2)“This house was an amazing experience for us. It is like a museum. With many objects from the trips of the owners to admire, with much care of every detail to copy, with great taste to make you feel that you have many things in common with the owners. I cannot forget the lamp with the girl and the umbrella that was combined with a painting next to it. The office made me feel jealous that I don\'t have one like this, with so much music and art. The kitchen was so well organised and had everything you will possibly need (even a refrigerator for wines). Finally the location was great. The Thai restaurant in the corner was very good and the market on Saturday...OMG I could spend the whole day there looking for faux jewels, glasses and wooden angels! My 8 years daughter says that it is the best house that we ever stay (the luxury apartments in Mexico with Jacuzzi and swimming pools were almost like hotels, not homes) and I think she is right.”

We love art and music and regularly visit the numerous excellent museums and many musical venues in this historical place where so many famous people have lived. After having lived all over the world, we travel a lot in cultural rich Europe. We have done more than 20 successful home-exchanges since 2009 with Lisbon, Tel Aviv, Thessaloniki, Lazio/Italy, Normandy, Brittany, Rhône-Drôme, Nimes, Cote d'Azur, Ireland, San Francisco, San Diego, Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, Athens/Santorini, London & Paris, South Africa.

Neighbourhood
Our apartment is located in a quiet street, close to the famous Naschmarkt and 100m from the metrostation or bus stop. The old city, museums and main shopping areas are within walking distance (10 min.). The 6th district, dominated by classical & Biedermeier style houses, is very lively and popular with the Viennese, having lots of restaurants, cafes & bars. The opera houses and concert halls are nearby and 10 min with the metro to Schonbrunn palace. With proximity to the Vienna Woods one can quickly escape the city buzz and enjoy the quiet hilly countryside. Interesting daytrips can be made to the picturesque Wachau Valley along the Danube, the Viennese beaches at Neusiedlersee, the mountains of Schneeberg and Rax, the vineyards of Burgenland, or the beautiful lakes of Salzkammergut. Salzburg, Prague and Budapest are a few hours away by train. Mercer elected Vienna now for seven years in a row as the best city to live worldwide.
