Our home away from home is situated on a 15 foot bank overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Ocean (house is set back 50 feet from edge it does not overhang!)....
Where is it?
The Exuma Islands are some of the prettiest in the world. The ocean is many colours of blue and the beaches are white sand. Visitors come here to relax, enjoy the many watersports and different kinds of fishing and to swim, snorkel and scuba dive. The busiest time of year is December to April. July and August are quieter but still all the hotels and restaurants are open. One of the best things to do is to take a day trip by boat up the Exuma Cays to Staniel Cay and Compass Cay. On the way the boat will stop at small islands for snorkeling and a picnic, then on to Staniel Cay to see the famous swimming pigs and dive the James Bond Thunderball caves, and swim with the sharks if you are feeling brave. There are a few places to buy souvenirs, including the local straw market where hand-made baskets and hats are sold. There is not much night life but some of the hotels and restaurants offer live music or DJ's and the "Fish Fry" is a popular spot especially at weekends. Or if you feel like it just relax, lie on the beach and soak up the sun and swim in the warm, clear blue ocean.
