About our home

We are in the out islands of the Northern Bahamas, known as the "family islands", as they are quiet, friendly and quaint - no gambling, glitzy shopping or extravagant night life!

TWIN DOLPHIN POINT is on the west side of Elbow Cay, facing the Sea of Abaco, with magnificent views of the neighboring islands and the reef beyond. There is a large sandy beach for sun bathing and castle building, with swimming, snorkeling and fishing off the dock. The sunsets are spectacular. The layout of the property lends itself to many uses. The house The Green Dolphin, has it's own separate apartment beneath, the Silver Dolphin. Therefore, we can accommodate 2 separate family units, with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths upstairs and 2 bedrooms, 2 baths downstairs. Each has its own kitchen, fully equipped and linens are provided. The surrounding gardens have lots of different areas for enjoying the beautiful Bahamian breezes in either sun or shade. We have lots of fruit trees and tropical plantings with lighted paths wandering throughout the property.

We are within 3 minutes of the village by boat, but have the peace and tranquility and privacy sought by so many visitors.

We live in a house nearby, and would be on hand to help out with getting you settled in and for help and advice during your stay. There are no roads to our houses, so you must be able to manage a small boat to get in and out of town (we will give you some names of boat hire companies if you like

More about us

  1. We are a retired couple, Peter is English and Jil is American. We have lived around the world and continue to travel and explore. Our favorite activites are exploring, hiking, gardening, reading, and travelling the world, occasionally with our 2 older granddaughters (ages 12 and 9). *** We only like to do 'non-concurrent' exchanges, as we stay in the Bahamas all winter, generally Nov-Jun, and travel the rest of the year. Therefore ONLY 2nd homes are good candidates for exchange with us.*** At this time we do not wish to exchange to Canada. We generally prefer locations with views and access to exploring and learning about new countries. For summer/fall of 08 we would like to visit some of the great parks of the Western USA, especially Yosemite, Yellowstone and Humboldt. The out islands are truly an adventure in travel, and require like-minded people.

Where is it?

This private family estate is situated near the picturesque village of Hope Town, settled in the 1700's by Loyalists from the Carolinas and New England. The quaint village has narrow streets, pastel cottages, and lush tropical vegetation and flowering trees and bushes all year round. Peaceful and uncrowded, Hope Town has several good restaurants, grocery stores, a tiny bakery, interesting shops, modern marinas and boat rentals. There is a wonderful museum depicting the history of Hope Town with fascinating photographs and memorabilia. Special celebrations during the holiday season and various local occasions are festive and fun for all ages. There are dozens of beautiful, pink sand beaches which you can explore. The diving and snorkeling are considered some of the best in the world, and at certain times of year there is great surfing from nearby "Garbanzo Beach". We have quite an active surfing club. This is can be an 'adventure' destination or a quiet retreat, depending on your preferences. A boat rental is required, and access to the village is strictly by boat. There are organized charter boats for visiting other islands, diving, fishing and exploring if you are not particularly boat minded. For some additional photos, please go to and type in TWINDOLPHIN where it asks for member name. You will then see a choice of albums, and can look at our photos of Twin Dolphin Point and the area (and us!).
