XIXth.Century mansion on a quiet street of Antwerp, Belgium.
4 floors of each 200 square metres, with large windows and excellent central heating. All doors are of beautiful strong wood.
The 1st. floor has antique mosaic on the floor in the hall, 2 living-rooms, 1 dining-room + veranda giving to the garden, 1 toilet in the garden, 1 kitchen + large spare space.
Going up the antique wooden stairs, you get to the bathroom, with 2 basins, a bathtub + a separate shower + a spare room behind. Next to it is the 2nd. WC.
The 2nd. floor has lovely varnished wooden floor, 1 very big studio/office room with an antique stone balcony overlooking the street, 1 large bedroom fitting 2 beds.
The 3d. floor also with a wooden floor, sanded, 1 very large studio/office with a view on the other mansions of the street, 1 bedroom with a double-bed, overlooking the garden.
The 4th. floor has 2 rooms, one with a double bed, the other with 1 bed and the possibility of another bed, next to it is an enormous double-deck attic.
I am a French film maker, married to a Belgian choreographer.
We are in our mid-fourties and mid-thirties.
I have a PHD on Spanish Literature from the Paris Sorbonne and graduated in Film at the Madrid University.
Chantal lived 5 years in NYC, working at the Merce Cunningham Dance Studio.
We travel a lot for our work, especially New York, Germany and Spain.
We have a cat we love. She is very at ease in the house and in the garden (and in the neighbours' gardens, too!)
I was formerly a Homelink member, so I'm used to home exchanges and enjoy them. In fact, many of the Homelink exchangers became friends of ours.
The street is a very quiet one, mostly with XIXth.Century mansions, in the Zurenborg area of Antwerp. It has a Pharmacy and and shop for fresh food. Behind our street, is a big Supermarket.
A 4 minutes' walk from home is the pleasant Dageraads plaza, with trees, bars and restaurants, a bakery, a good video club, and a tram stop which goes from the Berchem train Station to the Grand Place within 10 minutes.
3 minutes' walk from this plaza, is another sweet plaza, Draaksplatz, with nice bars and restaurants, too. In front of it, is the historical street of Cogels Oselei and its surrounding posh quarter, with extraordinary Art Nouveau mansions and big gardens.
