Come enjoy the peace and quiet of the country, while being close to historic cities!
Our cosy countryhouse was elegantly renovated in 2011-2012. The house is over 250 square meters with 2 bedrooms and a study that can be used as a third bedroom. All rooms have white oak flooring, except the master bedroom and the bathroom that have a white epoxy floor coating.
In the spacious living room with large windows to the garden, you will find a state-of-the-art surround entertainment system and a HD-TV (LCD). Wifi available as well. On winter evenings, you can enjoy a warm glow when you light the fireplace.
The white modern designer kitchen, with a great view and access to the garden, has all modern appliances including a large induction plate, dishwasher, steam oven, oven, a Senseo coffee machine and a classic coffeemaker.
In summer, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner on the terrace, where you can overview the flower garden and discover life in the small garden pond.
From the master bedroom you enjoy a view on the garden and you have direct acess to the dressing room and the bathroom with bath and large walk-in shower. On the first floor, you also have a double bedroom (an extra single guest bed possible) and a study with a sofa-bed for two.
Our house is 100% powered by solar electricity.
Historic cities - Our house is situated on the quiet and green countryside and well situated to visit the historic town of Leuven (20 km/12 miles), a university town with Oxfordian airs but a Burgundian heart - unique among the cities of Europe.
Brussels is only at 45 km (28 miles), the historic port city of Antwerp (40 km/25 miles) and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre of Bruges (140 km/87 miles) are also within easy reach. For a 3-minute video introduction of these cities, check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PjjhUB8xts. Even the Dutch city of Maastricht and the German city of Cologne are just a one and two hour drive away.
Musea - In all these cities, art lovers will love the large musea collections. The Museum 'M' in nearby Leuven for example offers a varied permanent collection of late gothic paintings and sculptures as well as a large collection of 19th Century painting and sculptures by various Flemish masters. Other nearby cities as Antwerp, Brussels, Mechelen, Gent and Bruges hosts large art collections as well.
Sports - Beyond the possibility to enjoy the cultural and cuisine highlights of Belgium, you have plenty of possibilities to hike and bike. You can cycle along the interconnecting bicycle network, beside courtyard farms and Roman "tumuli". Golf-lovers find three 18-hole-golfcourses nearby (Winge Golf Club, Keerbergen Golf Club, Golf Club Kampenhout).
Famous beers and cuisine - Our region is a gem for beer lovers and gastronomes. In Belgium and abroad, people love the unique beers from Flemish Brabant (e.g. Kriek, Lambik, Geuze). We will be happy to get you started by offering you a selection of local beers. By the way, nearby Brussels and Leuven (home of ABInbev, the largest brewery concern in the world) compete for the title of 'beer capital of the world'. Apart from the strong local beer tradition, an array of other delicacies such as the Belgian endive, asparagus... are on the menu.
