“We loved our trip to An and Michiel's beautiful Antwerp townhouse (the new house they have just moved to). The location is in excellent, only a short tram from the city centre but close to shops and some lovely restaurants. We came with our two young daughters and as An and Michiel have a little boy we had everything we needed. The girls loved Antwerp zoo and the cat Leopold who was easy to look after. Communication was great throughout and An's recommendations were excellent. Thanks for a brilliant first swap! ”

About our home
NOT ACCEPTING ANY SWAPS IN JULY/AUGUST 2020 AS WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY THIS SUMMER. Available for swaps starting from September.
The house is located 3 kms from the heart of Antwerp in a dead-end street, ending onto a nice square. It is well-connected to all major bus and tramlines as well as to the central station. You can easily spend a week or more in Antwerp but it is also an ideal base for day trips to Brussels, Ghent, Bruges, Amsterdam and even Paris.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants within walking or cycling distance from the house.
The house itself is spacious, offers all modern comfort and is best described as "cozy cluttered". We decorated it with flea market finds combined with more modern pieces. The house was built in 1910 and boasts very high, authentically decorated ceilings, mouldings and antique glass doors. It was refurbished in 2005.
We have a son, so people with children (aged 0-5) will find everything they need.
On the ground floor you will find the monumental entrance hall, a well-equipped kitchen, a pantry, toilet and a large living room. The high glass door in the kitchen opens unto our garden. On the "in-between" floor, there's an extra toilet, the dressing and our newly refurbished bathroom with walk-in rainshower and bath. On the first floor, you will find our son's bedroom: there's a baby-cot in there now, but we could put up to 3 (air mattress) beds here if you want. There is also a large office space that can be used as an extra bedroom. On the 2nd floor you'll find two spacious bedrooms.
A perfect location for couples, families or friends looking for a spacious but cosy house with plenty of day tripping opportunities!

An's reviews
As a host (2)“een heel fijne ervaring in het mooie Antwerpen. De stadsfietsjes zijn heel praktisch te huur op de hoek van de straat en daarmee ben je in korte tijd bij alle highlites. Het huis zelf is praktisch en mooi. Dank en groet, Karolina en Peter en onze 4 dochters”

We've done our share of travelling the world: we lived in India, have been to all kinds of destinations in South America, Asia and Europe. While we were gone, we rented our house out on airbnb and have received many good reviews . Now that we have family, we'd like to swap homes as we feel it's more comfortable with children.

Neighbourhood
Borgerhout is a very multicultural area in Antwerp. It has a reputation of being dodgy but this is just perception. Thanks to its reputation, houses were affordable and a lot of young urban professionals, artists, and hipsters have settled in this area. The government has recently invested in parks, an open air swimming pond and playgrounds.
It feels like a village within the city and has its own places of interest which we recommend visiting: the town hall, the free natural swimming pond, some trendy restaurants and bars...
