We moved into our newly build and eco friendly house in 2007. The house has 3 floors. Ground floor: hall, large office, toilet, bedroom and buanderie. First floor: toilet, dining and living room and kitchen with terras that gives access to the garden. Second floor: 3 bedrooms, bathroom, toilet and dressing room. Although the house is not completely finished yet by its decoration, it provides all comfort needed. From the house there are many possibilities to hike in the surrounding areas..
We are a family of 3: Ann, David and there son Elian (9 years old). David is working as a graphical designer and has his own communication company. He also is an artistic painter and industrial designer. Ann is working as an expert in sustainable development for a European company. Our passion is about travelling, hiking, art and ecodesign. We have 2 cats there names are Zybeline and Lotje.
You will be staying in a quiet and green area very close to Brussels. It is called the pajottenland. Pieter Bruegel, the Flemish Renaissance painter famed for his unforgettable peasant scenes and landscapes gained much of his inspiration from the area we now know as Pajottenland.
Brussels city centre is only 25 min from the house and offers you a varied range of cultural possibilities. The other main historical sites are all in less then one hour like the medieval city of Bruges (less than 1 hour), Ghent, Antwerp, etc. If you like to visit some other European cities, while you are here this is your ideal location: Paris (1,5h by train), London (2,5h by train), Amsterdam (2h by car). Other places are closeby as well.
Discover the excellent Belgian cuisine and the rich artistic and cultural life that our country has to offer: summer festivals (jazz, pop and rock), performing arts, exhibitions, musea, historical sites, go for a bike ride or hike in the green and hilly 'pajottenland' where we live, or a hike in the South of Belgium (1 hour to 1,5 hour drive) where you can admire the small and picturesque villages, castles and abbeys.
