Where is it?

De Haan is a quaint little seaside resort, famous for its sandy beach and streets filled with nostalgic architecture. This house is just one of many listed villas here. Albert Einstein came to stay in De Haan for 6 months in 1933, and the village hasn’t changed much since then, so you can still get an impression of what it must have looked like back in those days. It is a very friendly holiday destination with plenty of activities for families. De Haan boasts a 18 hole golf course (club founded in 1903) in the dunes with gorgeous views over the sea and the dunes. The golf course is less than 3 km from our house. There is also a sailing club (great for catamaran sailing and kitesurfing for example) right on the beach very close to the house. Very near by there are 2 tennis courts that can be rented.

Bruges with its canals and wonderful attractions lies within easy driving distance (20 minutes, less than 20 km away, there’s also a bus from De Haan to the centre of Bruges). Ostend is just 12 km away, definitely worth a visit. Ghent, Belgium’s best kept secret according to Lonely Planet, is a 45 minute drive from De Haan and can also easily be reached by public transport; the same goes for Brussels (1h15 min drive) and Antwerp (1h15min).

Public transport
Tram to any destination on the Belgian Coast (stop at 200 m from the house) Bus to Bruges city centre at 50 m from house Train station (Ostend) at 11 km (easily reached by tram) There is free car parking in front of the house and we have a drive with room for two cars. We are in a quiet area, but close to the village centre. Close by you'll find a supermarket that's open 7/7, restaurants, bakeries and even a little cinema.
