More about us

  1. Marc and Martine are a Belgian couple with one baby-son, Yasu. Marc is a producer of interactive television. His educational background is in photography and interactive media. Martine works at university, where she teaches and researches historical linguistics of Japanese, Korean, Tungusic, Mongolian and Turkic. The couple has lived abroad in Japan and Germany and loves travelling and exploring the world. Due to an academic event they are looking for a house-exchange in Berkeley from July 1 to August 7, but in other times of the year, any destination is potentially attractive to them.

Neighbourhood

Our house is on walking distance of the historical center of Maaseik, a charming city on the Belgian side of the river Maas. There are four bycicles that allow you to explore the surrounding nature of the Maas valley. Situated on the Belgian-Dutch-German border it is easy to reach cities such as Maastricht (Netherlands), Aachen (Germany), Brussels, Brugge and Antwerp (Belgium). We are on day-trip distance from Amsterdam and London and Paris are within two or three hours travelling by Eurostar from Brussels.
