“Nik is an excellent host! Nik’s apartment is very clean as a brand-new apartment. The kitchen is amazing! I like his kitchen a lot. His kitchen is the best kitchen I ever used. It is very well equipped with stylish kitchen gadgets. Nik is very good communicator. He responded my messages very quickly and he’s very accommodating and flexible too. I had to change my stay after I had confirmed the swap with him and he is so nice to let me change the dates. he gave me detailed directions how to take trains to Mechelen from Brussel’s airport. He picked us up at the train station to take to his apartment and showed us everything we needed to know about the apartment and some information about the town. I highly recommend Nik’s apartment if you plan to visit Belgium. Thank you very much, Nik!”
Where is it?
On the north side of the city, just a few minutes from the main marketplace and cathedral - which you can climb for an amazing view if you can handle 700 steps.
As Mechelen is not a big city, everything of interest is within walking (cobblestones all around, so avoid high heels ;-) or biking distance.
As a big fan of Mechelen we can recommend the city to everyone, young and old and we'll be happy to provide you with local tips.
If you're looking to see more of Belgium, most bigger cities can be reached quickly and easily with train station close by.
As Mechelen is quite central within Belgium and a train hub, it's also handy for visiting West-Europe (we commute regularly to Amsterdam in under 2h, but also Paris and London can be reached in similar time).
