About our home

My house is a very charming one. Situated only 15 minutes walking from the city centre, it combines both the urban and rural aspect thanks to its nicely flowered backyard and a little terrace to sunbath or rest in the summer. It is somewhat small but cosy with an fireplace for winter nights.

More about us

  1. I am a Kindergarten teacher and mother of two sons, now studying at university. I, therefore, live alone. I enjoy going away on holidays with friends and love discovering new places and cultures. In fact, I am really involved in a "services exchange program" in my city and have been hosting exchange students from all over the world for many years now.
Keeping in my mind that getting to know people and cultures is a passion, I am looking forward to any propositions.

Where is it?

The city I live in, Tournai, is a very touristic place thanks to its amazing historical past and architectural treasures: this middle-aged town once was the capital of France during the Merovingian period. Sightseeing is in fact one of the main business in the city, people come to admire the 800 years old cathedral, the oldest bell tower of the country overlooking the ancient market place, the many museums, churches and traditionnal houses of the european history.
Tournai is a very lively city. The cafés, restaurants and clubs will provide all the entertainment you are looking for and the "Escaut", the river crossing the city, offers a lovely scenery for walks or sighseing in the town. It is the perfect place to travel anywhere in Europe: Tournai is located at a highways crossroad, only 1 hour from Brussels,2h30 from Paris and 3 hours from Amsterdam. Moreover, thanks to the Belgian railway network being the most densified in the world, the city trainstation provides a lot of destinations by high speed train to many great european destinations.
You will find local businesses in my neighborhood such as bakeries, chemist's or grocery stores as well as supermarkets. My house is also situated 15 minutes by car from the French border.
