About our home

The house, previoulsy a butcher shop, was brilliantly restored in 2005 into a bright and sunny house. It is very comfortable, clean, and spacious.
On the ground floor, the modern and large kitchen (has a table for 4/6), the dining room and the living room form a beautiful tiled ensemble. The living room opens on a large terrasse overlooking South on a private fenced garden with trees, ponds and flowers.
My office and the 4 spacious bedrooms, all wooden floored, are located on the first and second floor, including one bedroom on a large mezzanine.
I moved in with my 3 boys (13 to 18) about a year ago, and I've never regretted it ever since.

More about us

I am Olivier, French but having lived in Brussels over the past 7 years (and loving it). I'm 51, but closer to 30 in my head, recently divorced, and I share the house with my three boys: Romain (18), Jérémie (14) and Alexandre (13). I have worked for international companies as a marketeer for about 20 years, but I got fed up with it, and now I manage an Internet based business which I recently created. I of course work a lot out of my home, and that was not neutral in my choice of housing and location!
My kids and I like travelling and sailing and discovering new places.
I have not done a home exchange before but I am keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident - and allow someone to see yours. I would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in our country.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The house is located in a quiet residential area, 20' away from Brussels center by car or train (train station is 2' walk away), conveniently surrounded with all daily shopping facilities and services within a 3 km radius. Tennis, Squash, Fitness, Golf, Swimming Pool all within 10' drive. More intensive shopping can be done in Waterloo or Uccle (10' away) or Brussels of course.
With easy access to the Belgian highway network, our house is the perfect base for people wanting to discover not only Brussels, but also other parts of Belgium (all within 90' drive) and even possibly Holland, or Luxemburg or the German Mosel valley (all are about 2 hours away by car !).
