About our home

This home is part of a large estate, dating back to the 1500's, with a chateau and related buildings. Our home is the former stables and has been renovated into three attractive homes. Our house is on the end, and really the heart of the estate. The first (ground) floor has a water closet, masterbedroom with shower and sink, and laundry room. The second floor is the main living area with living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. On this level is a very large fireplace which is the focal point of the room. The third level is a loft where we have a second bedroom, water closet, and clothing closet. The second floor also has a walk-out terrace where we have a large dining table with sun umbrella. The terrace is draped in grape vines. The original wood beams of the structure and old world charm radiate in the home and in the surrounding grounds.

Neighbourhood

This large estate has seven families living here--three in the chateau, three in the former stables, and one living in the former chapel. The former moat of the chateau is now a picturesque canal and pond which meanders throughout the grounds. The entire grounds are accessible to the residents of the estate. There are swings (for kids and an adult wooden-bench swing), a slide, tree-climbing, a row boat for the moat, and a walking trail into the woods of the property. Next door is a sport club, "Castle Club" (named after the estate), which has tennis courts (clay), squash courts, a swimming pool, and a nice dining on the outdoor terrace.
All of this natural beauty is within kilometres from the Capitol of Europe, Brussels. Brussels, and consequently major travel hubs, are just a few minutes away, by either car, or a bus and metro ride.
You will have the use of our bicycles (2 adult, 1 child, and bike buggy and child seat). A farmer's market happens every Friday and Saturday morning in nearby Place Dumont and is easily accessible by bicycle.
