“André ‘s place is perfect for a visit in Rio. Very central located and only a few minutes walking to the most famous beaches in this world, Copacabana an Ipanema. Metro is also just a few minutes away and the appartment is in a very safe area and day and night guarded by very friendly people. If you are over 65 years old, public transport is free in Rio de Janeiro. Especial in spring, Rio is pardise. Highlight recomended. Thank you André.”

“Well: Ipanema. There's not much to add! Thanks Andre and Tereza for this amazing trip in the "Cidade Maravilhosa" - absolutely true statement: it was really a pleasure to be in touch with you and meeting you guys for 10 minutes on the door :) The location is perfect, you can walk to the beach in few minutes, both Copacapana or Ipanema. Idem about metro station (very useful to move around, working just great), supermarkets and shops, cafè and restaurants, movida area, everything you may need and wish for a perfect vacation. The flat is tiny but very smart, suits a couple or a family with kids as the huge sofa bed in the living is very confy even for an adult (and there's an addictional bed to set in the large master room). Complete kitchen, table for 4 people, enormous tv screen with any kind of offer (yes Netflix!) and a nice bathroom. The street is a bit noisy but we slept just fine and fresh as air conditioning is working great when you close the windows. Daily cleaning maid for free is a big plus, easy laundry service on your own or made for a cheap price by the maid. The city is lively, warm people, messy fun beach, wonderful waves, international mood, no violence or scare felt anywhere. We visited all around: citycenter, Corcovado and Rocinha: go ahead, no problem at all, enjoy Rio alla you readers. Muita saudade!”
“My exchange with Andre in November 2019 in Brazil -- comprising two amazing destinations , Rio de Janeiro and Florianopolis -- was among my best and most enjoyable ever. The comfortable serviced apartment in Rio is located in the safe, upscale southern zone of the city, on a street that actually connects two of Rio's most iconic beaches -- Ipanema (three blocks away) and Copacabana (four blocks away) -- and within easy walking distance from the beautiful Arpoador rock, one of the best spots for surfing and watching sunsets in Rio. The General Osorio metro station, located at the eponymous square, which is the venue of a daily fruit and vegetables market and the famous Sunday hippie arts and crafts market, is situated some 150 meters from the entrance to the building and will help you reach quickly and directly the downtown area, the Lapa entertainment district, and all other major sites (including e.g. the Maracana stadium). The vibrant Ipanema neighborhood is replete with all kinds of shops, supermarkets, cafes, bars, including many typical Juice, Salgado und Açaí Bars as well as self-service kilo restaurants, which proved particularly convenient for a non-Portuguese speaker like me. Andre's modern and spacious penthouse in Florianopolis has an equally superb location in Jurere International, the glitzy northern part of the Santa Catarina island, the "Ibiza" or "Beverly Hills" of Brazil. A convenient open-air shopping mall with restaurants and cafes is located literally on the doorstep of the building and connects the apartment with the beautiful white sandy beach, which stretches over two miles from an 18th-century fortress to the local Marina and Yacht Club. During the week (at least in November), you have the clean beach with its calm and warm waters practically to yourself. Both exchange apartments had everything a traveler may possibly need, including flawless 5G wifi and even a swimming pool in Rio. Andre proved to be a perfect host, supplying me with tips and advice throughout my stay and making sure that everything was OK. On my first night, he drove me through night-time Rio and showed me neighborhoods that, in the days to come, I was able to explore during daytime and at my own pace. He also inquired on my behalf about the provision of free public transport in Rio for senior citizens, making it possible for me to use the Rio metro system, local buses, and even the ferry to Niteroi free of charge during my entire stay. I consider myself very lucky to have had the chance to swap homes with Andre and am certain that everyone following in my wake will have the same positive experience. ”
Where is it?
This is Ipanema. Place did not get famous for nothing. The most upscale and charming neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Yes, Copacabana is even more famous but Ipanema is better. And, by the way, its is a ten-minute walk as far as Copacabana. You can choose between two beaches: either a 3-minute walk to Ipanema Beach or a 10-minute walk to Copacabana Beach.Ipanema. Plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, bakeries. All kinds of food places, including veggie options, or kilo restaurants nearby. (A kilo restaurant is one where you pay for the weight of your food - a popular concept in Rio). There is also the churrascaria Carretao, where one can pay a fixed price and eat all the meat desired.
