About our home

Our beautiful and spacious beach front apartment is located in Leme, a three block neighborhood at the end of Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro. The building is from the 1940’s, has a beautiful lobby and 24 hour doorman service. The apartment has high ceilings and wonderful 'Peroba Rosa' hardwood floors throughout. The huge living room is open to the dining area and is full of natural light. Its large windows open to the gorgeous scenic view of Copacabana beach and the iconic Portuguese stone sidewalk designed by Oscar Niemeyer and Burle Marx. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and is connected to a office/closet area and a bathroom, the second bedroom has a queen bed and a desk, with both enjoying ocean view. The third bedroom has a full bed and a desk. All rooms are very airy and cosy, with ceiling fans and air conditioning. The kitchen is spacious, has marble counters tops and is very well equipped. There is a laundry with wash and dryer, a sink and a third small bathroom with shower. The property is located at Avenida Atlantica and it is walking distance to both trendy and traditional bars and restaurants. In the neighborhood there are walking distance local markets, street green organic market, a good super market, drugstores, banks, beauty salons, bakeries and few very good hotels. Public transportation and taxis are a few steps away from the front of the building. Despite the close distance to all types of entertainment and social activities, the apartment is very quiet. There is a bicycle path across the street along the sidewalk and the beach that links Leme and Copacabana to all other beaches of Rio’s' Zona Sul: Arpoador, Ipanema and Leblon. We will be happy to recommend our favorite spots in the neighborhood and all over this wonderful city.

More about us

  1. We are a Brazilian couple with a 19 year old daughter. We have been living in RIO for the last ten years, after being in the US for almost 20 years between New York City and Washington DC. Our daughter, after finishing her first year of University in RIO, has taken a year off school to have her first job experience on the making of a Tv Series in New York City. One of us, Iris, is a set Costumer and has been working in major film productions and Tv series for over 25 years. Our main residence is in Rio but she still travels to New York City (and occasionally to Europe) to work on different projects , that's being the reason why we would be interested in finding an exchange ( simultaneous or non- simultaneous ) between these two wonderful cities. The other one of us, Paulo, is an economist and a partner at a consulting and educational company in Rio. We love theater, cinema, music, visual arts, architecture, food, history and nature and our home mirrors our passions. Our main sport activity is open water swimming and we are so lucky to be able to practice it only a few steps from our home. We are also passionate about traveling and meeting new places and new people and would love to find a perfect match to be able to able to exchange our home.

Where is it?

At the center but off at the same time, Leme, our neighborhood, finds itself in a perfect location for residents and visitors of Rio de Janeiro. Located in a corner of Copacabana, its famous sister, Leme affords a quiet and peaceful lifestyle. No longer than the length of three long blocks, from its iconic round rock capped by 19th century Leme Fort to Avenue Princesa Isabel, and no wider than a couple of parallel treelined streets inserted between mountain and beach, this neighborhood enjoys beautiful and wide beach sidewalks, made of Portuguese stones, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and Burle Marx, several cafes and restaurants, local food fairs, supermarket, bakeries, and various small business stores and markets. Crowning it all, Leme has a spacious, luminous and quiet beach, with wonderful sand and perfect (for basic level swimmers) swimming water.

We could arrange, for anyone interested in that type of sport, to train together in that club with fellow practitioners.
