About our home

The house is very large with a splendid 360 view of the Paraitinga valey and surounding hills. We built it 6 years ago with very confortable 6 rooms, 5 bathrooms, a separate tv room, 2 fireplaces and a 25m-long (semiolimpic)swimingpool. The garden is very nice with a big lawn, a doll house, sandbox and a swing for kids. We have 2 kitchens where we spend a lot of time cooking and eating with our friends. We keep a vegetable garden and an orchard that has allways something fresh to add to our meals. There is a couple that work as our housekeepers that live in the property and, although they do not speak any language other than Portuguese, will be very happy to help around the house for a modest daily fare. It is the perfect spot for hiking, mountain biking (we have 2 bikes available), horseback riding (may be arranged with advance notice), swiming, cooking and relaxing.aslo great rafiting and kayaking in the city, river is inside our property A great place to be with friends and family, this is our weekend and hollidays retreat where we spend wonderful time away from the noise and crowds of Sao Paulo.

Neighbourhood

The house is 14KM from the historic city of Sao Luis do Paraitinga, an old crossroads for the mule trains that trasported gold and supplies to and from the coast from the mines in Minas Gerais during the Brazilian "gold cycle" in the 17-18th centuries. Sao Luis has a unique and lively cultural life, with a very famous street Carnival on february take a look at this articles at nytimes,http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/01/27/travel/27journeys.htmland the religious celebrations of May and June (Festa do Divino) and a national music festival in November. The town is art 30km from the still pristine Sao Paulo Rainforest State Park and 50Km from the beautiful beaches of Ubatuba. There is a developing local eco-tourism infrastructure, with several experimented guides and organized tours that can take you white-whater rafting, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding etc. Just check www.saoluizdopartaitinga.com.br for more info on the place! and www.saoluizdoparaitinga.sp.gov.br Finally, Sao Paulo is 2 and half hours away (the international airport less than 2), 2 and half hours from Paraty (a UNESCO World Monument) and 4 from Rio de Janeiro. WARNING: Having a car is a must and we recomend picking it up in Sao Paulo or Rio, as there are no renting facilities close by!
