“Pete is a fantastic host. He produces a very helpful and informative blog. He also is very communicative and helpful with any enquiries and volunteers useful details, that you might not think to ask. The apartments themselves were great - spacious, comfortable and clean. They are in a complex on the outskirts of Bankso, about 1.5km from the gondola lift. A bit too far to walk (with kids and a pregnant fiancee), but there is a free shuttle bus at various times throughout the day and a taxi was only 5-6BGN (2.5 to 3 euro). Staff at the complex were very helpful and friendly (certainly by Bulgarian standards). Couple of tips to share based on my own experiences: 1. Do not go during UK school half-term unless you have no choice. If you do go then, do not use the services of Ulen (and be careful that you do not book a package that uses them) - the main provider of ski services in Bansko. They were truly terrible - a complete waste of money and came close to ruining the entire holiday. They might be fine when things are quiet. 2. The queue at the bottom of the gondola can be horrendous. However, the complex's shuttle bus will take you to the top of the gondola for 2.5€ per person. It is much quicker and saves all the hassle of queuing etc. Added benefit - if you have any non-skiers, you save the cost of a pedestrian lift pass (itself 28BGN - 14 €), but make sure they get a lift pass off one of the skiers in the group for the journey back down the gondola (assuming the skier will descend using the ski road).”
