“Our first exchange experience was a very positive one. Sheila and Tony’s place in Canmore was exactly as described and exceeded expectation. The house and location more than met our families needs and the beautiful scenery was all we hoped it would be. Where the house is located allows access to many interesting outdoor activities/ tourist spots and the small but vibrant town of Canmore. Sheila, Tony and family respectfully treated our home as their own and the ongoing communication we had with them throughout the process was very friendly, helpful and knowledgable as they are experienced house exchangers. Thank you again Sheila, Tony and family for a great exchange and brilliant holiday in such a lovely country :) Dawn, Andy and family”
Sheila & Tony's reviewsAs a host (5)
“Sheila and Tony's home in Canmore is beautiful with everything you could need and more within the property. It can also accommodate several families with ease as it is a very good size. It is a wonderful family home. Canmore in itself is a beautiful place and very central for lots of must do places to see. Dealing with Sheila and Tony was a delight and they could not have done more for us. We look forward to meeting them and welcoming them to our home.”
“If you have any doubt of staying in or near Banff National Park, this place will fade it all away! We stayed at Sheila and Tony\'s place for about a week in the summer of 2017. It is a lovely place from very friendly people. Canmore is a much nicer place to stay than Banff! Small town, nice shopping area, but very central for lots of hikes; that even start right behind the house. You might be able to spot some wildlife in the backyard, which borders a nice trail for wildlife as well as humans... From the house you can see beautiful mountains and hear a small waterfall at about 10 minutes walking distance. There is a swimming lake at the same distance, and for the winter you can start your nordic ski trip almost at the same place. The house is very pleasant, although we were only with three, it could easily store 12! A whole floor for games and television on a very large screen, to watch movies. The house is very well equipped with good quality stuff and with style! We would love to come back some day and hope that you will enjoy our place as much as we did with yours! “Sheila and Tony have the most beautiful house in the most amazing location. We lived the dream for 10 wonderful days, they live the dream! I would happily pay a large sum of money to keep coming back to this unforgettable home. My children keep asking us when we can go back! thank you again Sheila and Tony for the wonderful memories that you left with us and our children, we will be forever grateful for this opportunity that you gave us.”
“We just returned from this beautiful home, in a perfect location, having had the most amazing vacation! Sheila and Tony have the most comfortable beds, a fabulous long dining-table that could house an army, lots of cozy seating areas to hang about in with family, or alone and a great outdoor space. The house is gorgeous and filled with interesting things to see, decorated lovingly and wonderfully. I think we were there two days before I even noticed that they have a card table, which we put to good use playing board games and Sevens. The giant TV, pool table and table tennis provided great entertainment after a long day of hiking. The kitchen is well equipped, and their daughter left us with a stash of gorgeous food when we first arrived. There were six of us, including two teens who all thoroughly enjoyed taking the trail at the back of the house to swim in the quarry lake. Lots of trails around, stunning scenery, a short walk to town where there are lots of excellent restaurants and grocery stores. We could not have asked for better! Once you get there you really could survive without a car as the public transport system is great, and there’s plenty to do just in the Canmore area. Thank you so much for this incredible experience; we\'d come back in a heart-beat if you’d let us!!”
Where is it?
The house is located in the town of Canmore which is an old mining town which has now in part become a 'leisure community'. Canmore is 100 km west of Calgary on the Trans-Canada Highway. There are frequent direct flights from Europe to Calgary. The house is privately located and backs onto a trout creek. It is a ten minute walk to the Nordic Centre, the Olympic cross-country skiing/mountain biking centre. A swimming lake is 10 minutes on foot. It is a fifteen minute walk to Canmore town centre and shopping. It is 20km by road or bike trail to Banff. Banff National Park gate is almost in town and a park pass is kept at the house. Banff can also be reached on foot, bike, skis or even canoe. At the World-famous Banff Centre you can enjoy classical music/jazz/dance/opera (www.banffcentre.ca). There are four nearby golf courses; three in Canmore, one in Banff. Local ski hills are Lake Louise, Sunshine, Nakiska and Norquay.
