About our home

Our 20th floor water, mountain and park views apartment is situated in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown core. It is perfectly situated to see all that Vancouver is famous for. Stanley Park, the world’s largest metropolitan park, is footsteps away as is the beach. Shopping and restaurants are just out the door of the building, as is the public transit system. The airport is less than 30 minutes by taxi or half an hour by public transport. The cruise terminal for that Alaskan cruise is 15 minutes away. Ferry services to Vancouver Island for a visit to Victoria are available using the public transit system as is access to the north shore mountains and Grouse Mountain. The winter visitor can ski within one half hour from the flat, also using the public transit.

More about us

  1. Lyn, an Aussie and Lowell, a Canadian, have retired from a seasonal family business based in the Yukon Territory of northern Canada. We have always spent our winters in Vancouver where we have maintained a home and now have this downtown apartment. With our winters free, we have been able to travel, usually to Australia and other southern hemisphere locations. Now, we have our summers free; we want to broaden our choice of destinations, to include Northern Hemisphere countries. We have both been keen photographers. Lyn has an intense interest in art and history having written several books in both fields. Computers have enabled us to put a modern slant into book production and photography.

Where is it?

This 20th floor apartment, located in Vancouver’s West End, offers the traveler modern comforts along with unparalleled views of English Bay, Stanley Park and the North Shore Mountains. We are within easy walking distance of most of our city's tourist attractions as well as the seawall, 400-hectare Stanley Park (the world's largest metropolitan park), and the trendy markets of Granville Island. The business district is 10 minutes on the bus.

Public transit is ½ block away. Its only a five minute taxi ride to Canada Place to board your cruise ship for Alaska or a 30 minute cab ride to Vancouver International Airport. Or take a short public transit bus to the new Canada Line, a subway which whisks you to the Airport (20 minutes). Whistler Mountain Ski Resort is about 90 minutes away by car. The apartment provides a great base from which to explore Vancouver Island and Victoria, the Gulf Islands, and the Canadian Rockies. Seattle, south of the Canada/United States border, is two and one half hours away. If you need the comforts of home in a compact package, this 500 square foot apartment will provide them all.

For those who have a car or will be renting one, there is a secure underground parking space.

Here are three web sites which provide exceptional panoramas of Vancouver and Whistler, our skiing Mecca. The Vancouver shots were taken in the winter of 2010 in the central region of the city. The panorama of Stanley Park includes the area where our apartment is located. Vancouver sites: http://aerialphotoimage.com/Panoramas/GreaterVancouver/VancouverWestEndAerial.html and http://www.aerialphotoimage.com/panoramas/GreaterVancouver/OlympicVillageVancouver.html
If skiing is your thing, here is the Whistler site: www.aerialphotoimage.com/panoramas/WhistlerOlympicVillage.html

Please Note: We do not encourage toddlers to stay in our apartment as the balcony is not suitable for young children to play on or otherwise visit. Our building is about 50 years old, however there have been upgrades to it over the years. Our apartment itself was totally gutted and upgraded recently.
