About our home

Our home is an ideal spot for a couple or a family wanting to explore Canada's National Capital Region! We're just about 15 minutes by car to downtown Ottawa; 30 minutes to escape in Gatineau Park. (Or in the summer, borrow our bikes and explore Ottawa's expanding cycle routes!)

The inside of our cozy house has been refinished with natural pine trim and bamboo flooring. Air conditioned in the summer, and amply heated in the winter. We have ample games for adults and kids, ranging from K'nex to Agricola to a professional poker set. (We also have furniture (playpen/crib/high chair) and toys specifically for infants through pre-schoolers!)

We are foodies, parents, and triathletes, so can advise on any combination of those things. Ottawa has a lot to offer!

Spring - Summer - Fall Highlights
Our large cedar deck extends from our dining room patio doors and is partially shaded by our beautiful maple tree. From the deck, stroll around our garden and enjoy some organic gooseberries, black raspberries, and red currants (in season)! Cycle to Dow's Lake, take a canoe trip down through the city, and meander through endless tulip beds. After indulging in some amazing gelato, enjoy a snooze on our lawn chairs or in our chair-hammock swinging from the maple.

Winter Highlights
Enjoy some in-city cross-country skiing along the Ottawa River or at Mooney's Bay, or take a half hour to get away to enjoy the groomed trails in the expansive Gatineau Park!
Skate on the world's largest naturally frozen skating rink: the Rideau Canal! Enjoy a hot chocolate and trademark Beaver Tail en route! In February, enjoy our annual celebration of the cold season with Winterlude festivities!

Other perks:
- Laundry facilities
- Dishwasher
- 55" Plasma TV (no cable, but with AppleTV and Netflix)
- Camping/Hiking/Biking/Skiing Equipment and Strollers/Attachments can be borrowed on request

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Our neighbourhood is 15-20 minutes drive from the Parliament Buildings in downtown Ottawa, but you can get most places by bicycle or reasonably easily by bus. Our home is at the end of an infrequently travelled street, making it great for kids and quiet. On foot, you can get to a number of nice delicatessen (Dutch, German/Polish, and Italian). A 15-minute bike (7-minute drive) will get you to The Agricultural Museum and the Arboretum.
