About our home

Our family home was crafted 18 years ago after we found a beautiful lot overlooking the ocean. Most of the rooms in our home enjoy spectacular sea views. We see the Ferries in the distance travelling to and from our beautiful capital, Victoria which is on Vancouver Island. We love to cook, and the kitchen has top of the line appliances, including three dishwashers for those family celebrations! Our gardens are quite lovely, with eagles nests all around us. The beaches are perfectly safe for childlren in Sunny Tsawwassen, as our town is so often referred, and kyaking the Fraser River, hiking and biking in Boundary Bay, are popular activities for our family. Birders also flock to our community (!) - most recently to see the snowy owls that resided here earlier in the year for several weeks. Lots of salmon fishing in our local waters, whale watching off Point Roberts, WA (which is just a bike ride over the US Border if you are so inclined). We have a wonderful Sunday outdoor market in the summer with music and entertainment which is just minutes from home. If you like skiing, three great mountains are just an hour away from the house on the North Shore over the Lions Gate Bridge: Grouse Mountain, Seymour Mountain and Cypress Mountain, home of the 2010 Olympic Downhill Snowboarding events. Whistler/Blackcombe Mountain is a two hour spectacular drive away, some say one of the best sea to sky highways in the world. A little about Vancouver.....a stunningly beautiful City with world class restaurants, the Vancouver Aquarium, Stanley Park (where you can catch the spirit at Klahowya, a traditional artisan village with present-day cultural attractions, and which sits in the ancestral territory of the Squamish, Musqueam First Nations and offers a glimpse into aboriginal customs from all over B.C.)....We have Granville Island for fabulous market shopping, and plenty of theatres offering an abundance of programs throughout the year. We have four adult children and all have now left the nest, hence the reason for this new adventure for us to see if we can find a great swap with a great family!! We would also be happy to consider car/boat exchange too if all goes according to plan......

Features

More about us

  1. We have four grown children and eight grandchildren. We are lucky to have three of our children and their families living close by (just a bike ride away) in this beautiful seaside community of Tsawwassen.

  2. John is an engineer, and will probably never fully retire! I have many outdoor interests, walking, biking, gardening, and in the winter, getting the youngsters skiing. Whistler is about two hours drive, and we have three good mountains for skiing an hour or so away. Another favourite pastime has been designing homes, and helping with renovation ideas for our family.

  3. John likes golfing, and also fishing in the Salish Sea just below our home for salmon. If they’re not biting, he’ll bring home crab for dinner!
